Ya it's the same BS leveled at Yao Ming. Which by the way nobody would be saying if he were several shades darker. Even Eddy Curry who clearly sucks gets more slack than Dirk or Yao.
Please someone read the following articles by two black writers: Scoop Jackson and Todd Boyd (first time I read an article from him) and tell me if there isn't a double standard that's applied here.

The first is an article on KG, and how we should all love him and wish him well because he is all that is good about the game. Not only isn't that true, KG has shown to be a major childish asshole this season (remember the Minny game) but it also shows how a writer like Scoop who has criticized Dirk at every single opportunity wishes well on another so called "underachiver". This is unbeliavable , and somehow we are spoonfed this stuff through the media.
The second is an article on how MVPs should be awarded including postseason play, and that Dirk shouldn't have one based on last year. Yet he conviniently passes over the fact that Dirk then had a great argument for the 06 playoffs. And how Duncan should have 4-5 MVPs based on what he has done in the playoffs.
It's all about marketing, and which guys the NBA wants to portrait as their poster boys. KG is in, and solid hardworking guys like Duncan and Dirk are left out.
And it's a little weird that every single black writer/columnist that ESPN employs writes the same bull .

Very true, everyone keeps calling him soft and stuff like that yet I have to see any other center handle him. For all the praise Howard recieves, I see Yao dominate him every single time.
At least they can't touch Yao in China, he is an idol there and the NBA wants to make sure they have a powerful precence in the Chinese market.
Scoop's problem isn't that he's a terminal race-card player, although he is. Scoop's problem is that, quite simply, he can't write his way out of a wet paper bag.
True on both! It still baffles me how a guy like that gets a gig at ESPN. There are posters in here that know much more about basketball, and write very well about it.
Well, he does know his basketball fairly well, he's got almost two decades of experience writing about it, he's been the editor of Slam, which means he's got to be well-connected, and he brings a socio-political angle that ESPN seems to want out of its writers, particularly its minority writers. I think he's a hack of the first magnitude, but I can see how some would mistake his hackery for "style."
i didn't even have to read the article, i just saw you say scoop, and i stopped there. if you wanna see a racist, read jamele hill.. christ, she's bad.
Just get used to it man, the media has chosen to make Dirk their whooping boy for no reason. The only thing you can do as a fan is too hope one day he wins a championship for the city of Dallas so he can ease the pain that he and his fans wen through. The funny thing is that even if Dirk won a championship some people will probably still say hes still a choker or he got lucky or some bull like that. Just don't worry about it man.
I guess you went through it with Nique, but I don't think it was anything close to the level that it has gotten with Dirk.
And yes JackArse, as bad as Scoop is, Jemele Hill is even worse. Being a flat out racist is her business card. I have no idea how these people are hired by national networks.
