No, they'd lose to the Lakers in five. Might get swept. The Lakers matchup perfectly against the Hornets.
If they win this series, can they go on to win it all? It's been said all year that the road to the championship runs through the Spurs, would a series victory make the Hornets your favorite to win it all?

It will be a good series between the Hornets and the Lakers
The two things that make the Lakers so dangerous is that they just don't seem to miss jumpers, and Pau is in the perfect situation for him because he has someone to set him up to finish, which is probably the strongest part of his game. Kobe would probably do to the Hornets what Manu should be doing to the Hornets, and the Lakers' shooters would be making them pay the way the Spurs' shooters should be making them pay.
That said, the Spurs are going to win the series, so it's all academic.
The Spurs would push the Lakers in the WCF if they meet, thanks to Bruce.
I also think the Suns (Raja), Rockets (Battier) could have fared better.
The Hornets have the same problem that Utah and Denver have...nobody (Mo Peterson) to guard Kobe. And when you help on Kobe this year, "Mamma, there goes that man! <Pau, Odom, Fisher, The Machine>"
Bowen can only bother Kobe if someone keeps Gasol from finishing at the rim. Then it's just a matter of everyone else staying home on the shooters. Fisher's shooting this year scares me.
Bowen's one of the few guys that can contain Kobe one-on-one without help (still gets his points but bad FG%). Duncan can take care of Pau. Lamar would have to be huge for the Lakers to win and that's the Laker advantage because he'd have to be guarded by Fabricio, Finley, Ime, KT? Odom being huge...I'll take those odds over Kobe being guarded by Mo Peterson.
Well, my opinion is whoever wins the west will win it all and 4 teams are still alive. I rule no one out until a series ends. Both series could be tied up 2-2 real soon. NO and LA did what they had to do, protect their home courts. Now, SA and UT get their chance. The moment you start banking on a result, the quicker you eat crow.
I agree. Lamar is a matchup problem, but he's a pudding head. If the Lakers are going to win a series against me, it's going to have to be won by Lamar, because I'm putting it on him to step up four times in seven games.
Exactly. That's why I think the Spurs have a much better matchup for the Lakers than the Hornets. The Spurs can live with Odom trying to beat them, much like Diaw for Phoenix.
Lakers are a real threat, no doubt. i just really think that if this young hornets team gets past the battle tested spurs they got a real chance to go all the way. i will agree that i believe whoever wins the west wins it all this year.
I think I can speak for most Hornets fans..if we get there, trust, we would much rather play the Lakers than the Jazz. The Jazz gave us fits this season.
Hahah, I think so too...D-Will has it in for CP3 being "the best point guard in the NBA". Hornets have 0 chance against the Jazz.
many people believed that
-the Hornets had 0 chance against the "more experienced" mavs
-the Hornets had 0 chance against the current defending champs....
This group continues to impress. I'll take my chances picking them to win.![]()

Lakers won't lose to the Hornettes unlike the Overthehill Spurs
My exact line of thought. I think the Lakers will kick the crap out of the Hornets.
Anyone who said either of the above 2 statements is a complete moron so I'm not sure why you're referencing them.
bring on the Lakers ... people tend to forget that we BEAT THEM DOWN TWICE during the season (once on THEIR court).
I would much rather play the Lakers than the Jazz.
The first game, the Hornets blew out the Lakers. Chris Mihm was the starting center and Odom was out.
The 2nd game with Bynum starting, the Lakers blew out the Hornets by 29 points in New Orleans.
The 3rd game Hornets won by 10 in New Orleans. Bynum was out and Pau played 2 minutes and then sprained his ankle and was out for 10 games.
The 4th game, the Lakers went up by 30 points on the Hornets and they came fighting back to lose by 3.
So in my opinion, the Hornets never beat a full strength Laker team. Whereas the Lakers had 1 solid beating of the Hornets, and another game they went up by 30 but the Hornets fought back...and still ended up losing.
A Pau or Bynum led Laker team will probably put a pretty good thrashing on the Hornets in most games.

NOH/LAL series would be unpredictable. Not really but anyone's guess is good.
Too bad it won't be NOH making it though.
The Lakers are a changed team since those reg. season games and so are the Hornets. Bonzi and Wright didn't play as much, nor were as comfortable in their roles as now against them in the reg. season.
In the playoffs there are no back-to-backs and the road trips are all against the same team,
I like the matchup with the Lakers. The Hornets are more athletic than the Jazz in the paint and can match their quickness.
The 3rd game when the Hornets won by 10 was much more of a blowout than the final score.
Definitely would be a 7 game series if both teams make it there. Still waaaay too early.
Fair enough, we shall see. Let's see how much the Hornets want this matchup. Good luck.![]()
I think Lakers are the favorites against NO. However, Paul will dominate the game as much if not more than Kobe will. It will very interesting to see the battle unfold.![]()
So I guess that means yall wouldn't stand a chance in against them.
We match up better against the Lakers than the Jazz. We can beat them.
