It's almost as if his ego wanted this trainwreck of a job so if he's successful, he can shove it up Steve Kerr's ass. Problem is it's very doubtful he'll be successful.

I would've rather had the Chicago job.

Wouldn't want to live in New York either.

Eddy Curry playing for D'Antoni? Doesn't Curry have a heart problem?

I wouldn't want to live in NY or Chicago. I'm sure it came down to money. Chicago probably wasn't willing to break the bank when they're still paying Skiles after his firing. Neither team has a load of talent, but Starbury might be better suited to fire up his 7 seconds offense. The good news is that David Lee might be available, since he would be a horrible fit for the fun-n-gun offense. Three First Names needs shooters, not bangers and hustlers.

They don't have to pay D'Antoni a dime. Nice.

David Lee is perfect for a run-and-gun offense. Lee is athletic and runs the floor well.

It's Curry and Randolph that aren't.

The Knicks team is perfect for coach D because he doesnt have to emphasize on NOT playing defense. that team is full of scorers who dont play defense and im telling you they are not afraid to shoot:

What happens with Nash? He spoke at a charity event yesterday (or the day before) and said that D'Antoni was his coach and who he wanted to play for and that he expected him in camp in October. Will Nash blow a fit?

Both the Suns and Knicks are ed.
    Suns = disgruntled Nash.
Knicks = wrong coach for their players.

Nash didn't have a great season, neither good playoffs.

The only way for him to ever have a chance to get a ring is that his team learn to play defense and learn discipline.

I understand his concerns about a more defensive oriented coach since he's the Suns worst defenser.

The best scenario for the Suns was D'antoni taking the Bulls job and the Knicks hiring Mark Jackson, so that the Suns could have Celtics assistant Tom Thibodeau all to themselves (unless there are further openings, which is a possibility). Hopefully the Bulls will hire Avery.

If the Hawks can make the playoff with their record, Im pretty sure Dantoni could get this team in the playoffs in the next couple of years. Wonder how he feels about Starbury.

    D'Antoni is a chicken.

He accepted the job for two reasons: 1) The cash 2) It's hard to fail as a knicks coach. If he would ve gone to Chicago and failed miserably, his career might be over as a "good" coach. Thats what the man is afraid of.

Prediction: get the Knicks over 500, everybody will praise his ass, nd win the ing coach of the year award.

    Good luck to him.

He's not that bad of a coach. He just couldn't get past Spurs.
I will miss him as a Suns coach, though. There were some great Spurs vs Suns games and memories and I felt like he was a big piece (equal to Nash) in the Suns system.

jeremy, you're assuming that the celts will even give thibideou the opportunity to talk to other teams, which so far they've pretty much said they aren't. granted, that may change after the celts are removed fromthe playoffs. but just never know.

d'Antoni makes enough to live live other wealthy people who work in Manhattan but live in CT or NJ. NYC is one of mankind's great accomplishments, but cost of living, like all great cities, is crushing if you're under $150/year (the AVG NYC salary).

D'Antoni will be fine with the Knicks. They will suck for about 2-3 years until Walsh can ship all their bad contracts out and exchange them for D'Antoni type players.
