The wild card here is what will Donnie Walsh do with the roster? Personally, I think Walsh is overrated. They'll probably get better (hard not to), but this isn't a recipe for getting to the Finals.

    D'Antoni is a chicken.

He accepted the job for two reasons: 1) The cash 2) It's hard to fail as a knicks coach. If he would ve gone to Chicago and failed miserably, his career might be over as a "good" coach. Thats what the man is afraid of.

Prediction: get the Knicks over 500, everybody will praise his ass, nd win the ing coach of the year award.
I still don't think it was a good idea to fire him as the choking wasn't just his entire fault. The players choked, Steve Kerr choked, the owner choked, etc.

Anyway, I think it's awesome for NY. They are paying him well and that franchise now the only thing it needs is to win games, any games. They aren't looking to win the East or anything like that. They just need to cash in and the only way is to win some games. Get back to the playoff a la Atlanta, etc.

I think D'Antoni is good enough to do this. So props to NY.

I don't think Knicks organization or its fans think they'll be getting to the finals anytime soon. I think the first step is to just make it to the playoffs.

And the East is pretty weak, especially with teams like the Pistons/Celtics etc getting one year older. I wouldn't be surprised if D'Antoni and Walsh managed to make the Knicks a 5th seed or something next yet.

An over-ranked coach who was horrible in the playoffs goes to a team with all kinds of issues. What a joke that with Avery out there they go with this defensively challenged media creation.

There should be a V-bookie for the Suns. Who will be the next coach.

My money is on Jeff Van Gundy.

...Interesting. I think it may be Avery Johnson or Steve Kerr himself.

It's all over the news here in NY. I'm actually tired of seeing his Pringles face every time I look at the TV. I guess ANYTHING is an improvement over Isiah.

avery is a no, jvg is probably a no. the suns don't want a defensive coach, just someone who will at least put some influence on it and practice it. the big loss in all this, is going to be weber. he's the one that got amare's shot so steady, and actually made shaq's fts almost servicable.

I'm actually not convince that it's an improvement. OK vs. Isiah it probably is - just barely.

What happened with Jackson? Didn't he quit his job at ESPN for the Knicks coaching position?

Suns should hire Paul Silas or Paul Westphal. Someone with ties to the organization and veteran enough to deal with older players. Also, someone who probably will not mind a deeper bench.

D'Antoni and New York media will be a hilarious pairing and I can't wait until someone questions why he only plays David Lee 3 minutes per game.

I'm with you. I think he's a fake coach and his system only looked good because of Nash/Amare. Without that duo it's going to be bad.
That said, Isiah was terrible. People were picketing in front of the MSG over here to have him kicked out.

What happened with Jackson? Didn't he quit his job at ESPN for the Knicks coaching position?
Mark Jackson is a fool. I hate when TV people take advantage to pitch themselves for a job. Plus every time he contradicts himself: "great offense will always beat great defense" whenever the Suns made a run. Then we would kick the Suns ass, and he'll be like "Defense is what wins games".
The other thing is that the media over here is pitching how D'Antoni was recently a Coach of the Year and that he averaged 58 wins while being the Suns coach. Those are marquee numbers that Jackson doesn't have, and you need to take a job here in NY.

It's almost as if his ego wanted this trainwreck of a job so if he's successful, he can shove it up Steve Kerr's ass. Problem is it's very doubtful he'll be successful.
You never know. With Isaiah out of the way they may make some progress.

What happens with Nash? He spoke at a charity event yesterday (or the day before) and said that D'Antoni was his coach and who he wanted to play for and that he expected him in camp in October. Will Nash blow a fit?
I doubt it Nash is a good guy seems to just go with the flow. Plus as we saw in the series he is not quite what he was.
