I don't watch a lot of Hornets games or anything, just the playoff games. he seems to be a very average defender. Is he truly deserving of this?

No he does not deserve to be there.

Rondo should have got his spot.

Steals does not equal defense. Ask every coach that Iverson used to play for.

CP3 is an average defender at best, and gets in trouble against bigger guard (Billups, and Deron always seem to kill him) and now Parker is running circles around him.

Therefore no. But I always say that Defensive teams are like the Pro Bowl Offensive Lines. It's all about reputation there because there are hardly any ways to measure it.

I think he got that for leading the league in steals.

That said, he's only average to below average against the better PG's in the league.

steals and blocks are the two most overrated stats in basketball by a mile.

steals and blocks are the two most overrated stats in basketball by a mile.
There needs to be some distinction between a block that completely negates what the offensive team was running (obviously, change of possession would qualify) vs. blocking an attempt that just leads to a successful putback about 0.5 seconds later. The problem is that NBA scorers are about the last people on earth whom I trust to use good judgment.
