if PJ comes back i don;t mind losing him....
on Dan Patrick a reporter from phx said kerr was looking at a number of replacements for D'antoni. Mike B. was included in the mix. Damn ex-spurs trying to steal all our coaches![]()

Bud is Pop's right hand man. That'd suck![]()
it seems the only way the league wants us to go down is stealing all the personnel! lol![]()
CIA Pop will have his people all of the the Western Conference before its all over!
Then we infiltrate the Eastern Bloc!!
Kelvin Sampson to replace Coach Bud should he leave.....
No way is Bud ready to be an NBA head coach. He'd probably be the first to tell you that.

He has already been hired by the Bucks as an assistant for next year. Of course, we can steal him, but he is waiting around for a job anymore.
He may not want it yet. I fully expect a Phx run at Avery before Bud. Bud would be a coup in understanding everything we currently do. If he leaves, I guarantee Sampson moves into an asst role and Coach Don will be the top asst.
If Bud leaves, that would be a pretty significant blow.
One that, honestly, I dunno if Pop could find someone to replace. He trusts Budenholzer pretty hardcore.
steve kerr does not want avery
Actually, Bud has been angling for a head coaching job recently. It was reported that Pop originally thought about making Don Newman his lead assistant ... but after further "contemplating" Pop decided on Bud.
Bud is vastly underrated in the Spurs organization. On the championship winning defensive stand in 1999, he drew up the exact play that the Knicks ended up running during that timeout. During games, Bud has more involvement and has more say than any assistant who has come through the organization ... even back when more experienced coaches such as PJ were on the sidelines.
But yeah, I once thought Bud would be happy working next to Pop until Pop left. I now get the feeling that Bud actually aims to get a head coaching job soon.
i hope not. you think avery johnson knows the spurs. geesh. imagine this guy coaching a western conference team.
Yeah, hopefully Pop could tell him, I want whats best for you, but I'd love it if you stayed here. Give him a raise, something.
Budenholzer leaving would be horrible.
That would be tough as Kelvin Sampson is currently an assistant in Milwaukee.
I think the contemplating was after watching summer league and how poorly that team was run...It was reported that Pop originally thought about making Don Newman his lead assistant
He's been an assistant with the Spurs for 12-15 years now...exactly when do you think he'll be ready?
Budenholzer deserves better than the fate he will have with the rapidly declining Suns....Phoenix is 1 year away from rebuilding.
He could be the next Spurs coach after Pop retires
the reasons Budenholzer is a legit candidate and Avery Johnson isn't is simple.
$$$$$
Sarver doesn't want to pay, and Avery would command at least 3 million if not 4+ a year.
A first timer in Budenholzer would be very helpful to the Suns bottom line.
It's gonna be Avery coaching in Phx and he will implement the Spurs offense there. Would be a good fit for them. Sure couldn't hurt their "playoff success"
