David West has been quite classless on the court, he's a whiner and a bad sport. Not sure why anyone expects Spurs fans to like him, much less to be rooting for Spurs players to make sure not to be physical with him for fear of aggravating his injury. I was happy to see someone put him on his ass, even inadvertently, and thought the Horry chant was funny. I don't recall how it's the Spurs' fault that West's back is hurt. If he hadn't been injured he probably wouldn't even have gone down from that play.

For what it's worth...I was at the game and although there was the chant, several fans clapped for him when he got up and headed to the lockerroom. I was kinda shocked at the chant...but for some reason I don't think it was because of his injury.

I ing love Robert Horry! I'm reminded of a commercial that I saw recently that sums up this entire situation perfectly..

"In a World Gone Soft, Someone's Got to be Hard."

If West is so injured that he can't even take a weak ass shot then he shouldn't be on the floor to begin with.

I wouldn't call it a cheap shot either - a foul, yes, but not anything flagrant or cheap. It looks to me like West hyper-extended his back from the clip. Going up and back at the same time without knowing there will be a sudden obstruction to stop you can definitely cause some pullage of muscles. Either way, I think the 4 days off will do him good and he'll be ready to play for G7.

Edit: If it does turn out to be a pulled/hyperextended muscle in the lower back, I think even with several days of rest this could still affect his jump shot a little. Of course, if the Spurs go on to win AND do so with a "hobbled" West, it certainly will add to people saying they're a "dirty" team.

this is going to turn into one embarrassing thread if we lose Monday, all this talk about toughness and balls and playoff basketball will look pretty foolish if NO comes out and Waxes us in game 7

I can't believe people can be upset about this play and not be outraged about the pick from behind Chandler put on Parker a few games ago. He not only leaned into Parker and laid him out, he effing kicked his leg after the fact and stepped over him as he ed about being called for a foul. Does anyone have that gif? I was shocked he wasn't, at the very least, called for a technical for kicking someone while he was down...

That was a clean play. Horry did what he was supposed to do. Not give up anything easy in the lane. There wasn't any hand checking. All Horry did was stand there and not give ground.

I was at the game, and there was applause when West got up and went to the locker room. Put a damper on the game for me- never want to see anyone laid out on the court for that long.

Applauding a player when they get up is a good thing...it's when they boo him getting up that it's bad.

A lot of people in the arena were disgusted at those who were chanting "Horry" after that. I saw people turn around and throw dirty looks, as well as telling them to shut up. Those who actually appreciate the game looked genuinely concerned and applauded for West when he got up and walked through the tunnel. I personally can't remember the last time I saw so many fans act like that when an opposing player went down. It really sucked and it makes the rest of us look bad.

The greatness is that Spew fans are always claiming how much more class they have. I call BS yet again.

WTF? I just said that it was basically embarrassing that fans would do that, and you can't accept an apology?

No, you are dead wrong. The whistle was blown well after the play, when it was obvious that West was hurt. It was strictly a sympathy whistle to stop play and allow him to be taken off the court. If West hadn't thrown out his back, it was definitely a no-call.

I'm rapidly getting to the point where I don't give a if he is or not. Between this and Paul's comments that the refs "let them guys win" it is clear they are setting up excuses in case they lose. I had alot of respect for the way they were playing & acting but now they are starting to sound like the New Orleans Suns.

Oh, my bad. You convinced me. Now if we can just get the news stations to quit showing us the play. Out of sight out of mind, then we can start brainwashing others that the play was not a foul.

The Bums got the chant going too!!

Thank god the bums were there so that not all fans ran down on the court to kiss David West's because of back spasms...as the Spurs are about to have to go into New Orleans to win a game 7. And if you think they are going to win that by not putting lots of Hornets on the ground...then haven't watched very many game 7's on the road.

Meaning that you should appreciate the apologies that Spurs fans are giving to Hornets fans. What's wrong with you? Are you so bitter about not being in the post-season that you have nothing better to do than bandwagon?
