Like they did with Gretzky in the NHL?
No
I've heard a lot of arguments about this.
Like they did with Gretzky in the NHL?
No
I think a lot of players choose 23 because of Jordan. It's their inspiration and letting 23 stay keeps Michael's legacy alive better than retiring it.
Oh, Jesus. You LeBron fans just don't quit, do you?
plz dont be idiotic like heat franchise, when they retired no.23....lol when jordan had no affiliation with miami heat in his career.
We all love MJ but let's not get crazy, there are few players that are arguably better than Mj(Kareem, Magic, Wilt, Bill russell) and there are many players who are on his level(Bird, Kobe and few others. If you retire Mj's number because he was so great wouldn't you have to do the same to those other really great players also? Just my two cents
I think every NBA jersey should have a picture of Michael Jordan's penis on the front with a tongue at the tip. That would be good too.
they should wait till Lebron retires
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAA!!! What sport are you talkin' about? Ping pong? Then I must agree...![]()
They should retire #00. It's not like anyone's ever gonna wear that again.
I don't think that it should be retired, but Lebron needs to be over it. 23 was and has been inexorably linked with MJ. In fact as I type, I'm wearing a pair of Jordan shorts with a big old 23 on the side. For LeBron to wear it and furthermore, to market it through his LBJ23 Nike line is ridiculous and it smacks of lame & pompous en lement. I like Lebron a lot, but he should be creating his own legacy instead of mimicking MJ's.
Absolutely NOT...his jersey should NEVER be retired.
As I recall, when the Magic Lakers battled the Bird Celtic's in the 1980's.....and resurrected the NBA from a near comatose state, the officiating was about even. Not to say it didn't suck, but neither player nor team got the favoritism we see now. And I really think this overt favortism started with Michael Jordan and the Bulls. Rarely, would an official call a foul on Jordan in a big game or critical situation. Recall his last shot as a Bull in the 1998 Finals against Utah when he pushed off of Byron Russell and no foul was called? And here is a former official who says a foul should have been called:

So for a player who got so much help from the league......NO...his jersey should not be retired.
holy . someone's a mj hater.
That should actually be the refs' outfit.
I don't think they should retire the number. But I do think players as great as Jordan deserve some kind of lasting recognition ala Jerry West on every uniform (( the NBA logo))
Rather than retire it, they should retire all other numbers and make everyone wear 23.
