Saw it...it didn't suck but I wouldn't exactly call it a great movie. Out of the four movies, I rank it fourth. That doesn't mean it sucks...it just means it's not as good as the others. None of them are as good as the first one.
Don't believe the critics hyping it and you should be ok...it's not near as good as they make it out to be.
I definitely think Iron Man was better as well.
Saw this movie tonight.
****Semi-Spoiler Alert****
Man, it was not as good as I thought it'd be. The first 15-20 mins are good. Then the movie goes downhill in a big way. I don't know that new kid but his ass is annoying as . Its like the whole time you're thinking the only reason they made this movie is to start a new franchise around him. And let me tell you. THis movie has aliens in it. Aliens? Are you ing kidding me?!? This is one example how they should've just ended it with the last crusade. I don't know why hollywood continues to ruin great franchises. I cannot believe George Lucas, Steven Spielberg got this storyline out there and everyone thought it'd be a good idea. I feel so bad for Harrison Ford. He deserved a better follow-up than this. Cate Blanchett had a very wasted performance. She was great. The fact that this film didn't have a more creative story is a real disappointment. I know this won't stop people from seeing it. Just make sure you remember what I'm telling you before you do. ---rating: two stars out of five
Easily. I spent most of the movie wondering if they were trying to spoof the first three movies or not.
For what it's worth, Indy 4 ranks behind Rocky 6 and Rambo 4 in past ripe sequels.
I put it above temple of doom. As for this film itself, i just wonder how bad Lucas' first script was.
I saw the movie tonight. I really liked it.![]()
I just finished watching it online...I think it was pretty good. Personally I think they waited too long to get a decent script though. But I think it's better than Temple of Doom though.
Dude, the movie takes place after WWII, during the onset of the Cold War.
Jones' dad (Connery) is dead. Nazis are no longer a threat, commies are.
Short Round is probably in Thailand selling his asshole to closet gay clients for $2 an ass .
What the else do you want?
Lucas didn't write the script.
just imagine how bad it would have been if he had.
Saw it last night....it was a bit disappointing. The beginning was kind of stupid, the ending was really stupid. But Harrison Ford is great as usual, and a lot of the action is classic Indy action. I actually didn't think the plot was that bad at all, I was really into it up until they went WAY WAY WAY over the top with the ending.
Shia LeBoof or whatever the his name is nearly ruins the movie. That guy is such a ing nozzle. I think everyone will unanimously agree that the "Tarzan" scene is easily the worst in the entire movie.
And......aliens? Really? Nineteen years to come up with a story and...........aliens?
And shooting the movie in digital format with excessive CGI kills some of the "real" feel of the previous Indy flicks, and makes this movie seem to have a lot more in common with the Star Wars prequels.
This movie has A+ Indiana Jones moments, but the ending, the got from Transformers, and the George Lucas Film School technique called "bludgeon the audience to death with special effects" really hurts it. Overall a B-
, a B- isn't bad at all.
what is with all the temple of doom hate? It's not as good as Raiders or Last Crusade but I thought Temple Of Doom was pretty damn good.
This movie isn't near as good as any of the first 3 Indy films, but it's infinitely better than any of those ass Star Wars prequels.
It's disappointing because of high expectations over how great the first 3 movies were, but overall it's still a fun movie. And Harrison Ford is awesome.
I have to wait until next weekend to see it.
I promised my nephew I'd take him to see it, but I'm leaving out of town this weekend.
I really want to see this movie right now.
I watched it and truly enjoyed it. Forget what anybody else says. It was a fun enjoyable movie. I would recommend it to everyone.
It's definitely a very fun movie. If people don't have the high standards of the first 3, and realize that it's partly meant to be an homage to 50's B-movies, they'll enjoy it a lot more.
I think too many people hype themselves up and if you do that it is, IMO, hard NOT to come out disapointed. Maybe that is why I like watching movies after all the hoople is over so I don't psyche myself out. I watch movies more for the entertainment value than critique about all the inaccuracies of the plot, scenes..blah, blah, blah.
And another reason I won't pay that much to see a movie these days. If I'm gonna be disapointed I'd rather do it cheaply and in the comfort of my own home.
Aside from some corny parts (nuke bomb, monkey swinging, excessively long sword fight across two cars, and the UFO) i like it. Harrison Ford is awesome, and still has that y at ude, and the movie still retains a lot of the same types of humor that the previous movies had. i thought shia lebouf did a good job doing his acting role, but whoever wrote the script used and focused on him a little too much, and not enough on making the entire story better (in other words, finding something other than aliens to base it on). what i loved about the old ones is how much things were based on history, and while there was always sort of a fantasy side to the movies, the alien part was a little too much. but i still liked it. i cannot say enough about how well harrison ford played his part. he was the same kick-ass Indiana Jones, just a bit older.
I can sort of understand you guys having some misgivings about the aliens and what not, but I just don't get it.
How much more different is it from the spirits coming out of the ark and melting people in Raiders of The Lost Ark??
It can't be that much more far fetched than that.
And, everyone bashing Shia Lebouf seems to be based on his overexposure from Transformers and not from his acting abilities.
I guess I'll find out when I go see it.
Oh i agree completely about the "fantasy" type elements, which was why i didnt knock on it too much at first. and actually, now after looking at the article that thispego posted, and doing some more research, i liked the movie a lot more. i didnt know that such skulls really exist, and that there are beliefs and myths that really exist revolving around the skulls and aliens and such.
the movie just shot up quite a bit in my book. if they had just gotten rid of the "tarzan" scene, i think the movie would be a classic to me. the only thing is that a lot of people (like myself) don't know anything about crystal skulls and think they are completely made up, thus causing them to dislike the story.
and i think shia lebeouf is a good actor. he just was overused some in this movie, especially in action scenes. but i have always liked the guy.
I was watching a docu-type thing on the Discovery Channel about the Mayan crystal skulls.
It was pretty interesting.
What was real interesting is a photo that was taken during one of NASA's expeditions to the moon. There appeared to be a skull like object on the surface of the moon.
It is thought that it was recovered and brought to Earth. The theory folds into the Mayan Calender's end of time (the year 2012) and the U.S.'s, Europe's, Russia's, and China's efforts to go back to the moon now.
Do I believe any of these things?
Not particularly.
I need more proof.
But, it was interesting nonetheless.
yea, interesting indeed...
They should have made the aliens predators to tie in with the AVP story line.
