I don't condone or condemn going out of your marriage for sex; everyone can decide that for themselves. What I don't understand is that for so many people the sex seems to symbolize the commitment in the relationship. There are many more aspects to the commitment that are so much more important (in my opinion). I wish that we all could have these spiritual epiphanys every time we have sex with our partners. But in reality, sometimes, sex is just sex, even with the love of your life.

Sex isn't the only part of a relationship, but sex isn't the only part of cheating, either.

The few times that I've been cheated on, I was barely concerned with the fact that my boyfriend/girlfriend decided to someone else. I was far more bothered by the fact that they lied to me, the fact that our relationship wasn't important enough to try and fix whatever problems they were having, and the fact that they selfishly strung me along and wasted my time rather than having the guts to let me move on. That, to me, is what makes cheating so wrong. The sex is just the mechanics, not the problem.

But, too much importance is put on "sex" like it's the end-all/be-all of a relationship.

And, the people who put that much importance on it are the ones that get hurt by it.
