You actually think the Spurs are like Phil Jackson and his whiny, y teams? Pop is never, ever, ever going to call out publicly on something like that.

You can bet your ass privately though, he's going to send this tape and a letter to the league.
Maybe he can start a last shot of the game foul committee while he's at it.

Please, it was a foul, move on. The lakers won 3/4 games, they are the better team at this point.

Rules state that the defender has his right to verticle space. FIsher jumped, then Barry dribbled into him and didn't attempt a shot. Barry then after the contact made a basketball move and shot the 3.
Fisher didn't jump straight up, and that's all he's en led to.

Because they are whining that their team will now lose the series in five games to a team WITHOUT Bynum!!!
No one is playing the Injury excuse. Manu is dinged, but we're fully aware the Lakers have their fair share of injury problems.

Spurs fan have good reason to be pissed the game ended the way it did. The game should have had a chance to go to OT, where usually the best team wins and by the looks of it tonight LA was the better team, but we will never know for sure until Thursday.

i think majority of people would agree it should have been a foul. there is no argument here. However, Just BECAUSE the REFS blew up ONE SINGLE CALL didn't mean they are fixing the series either. There were bad calls either way tonight.

    That Was a Foul!

OK, there, big ol' NBA, let's be honest: You were on notice. No funny business! We have had our referee scandal, we have been accused of fixing games, and we have promised that such things would never never never no not ever happen again.

You bounced back pretty nicely. But you promised transparency. You talked about a sacred trust.

And in that context, with everyone and their brother suspecting that the League would prefer to have the ratings monster Lakers in the Finals, and with a notorious anti-Spur referee assigned to the game, how can a key Western Conference final game end like this?

Laker Derek Fisher left his feet, and landed hard into Spur Brent Barry. The Spurs were down two and time was running out. That's a foul in my pickup game. That's a foul in high school. That's a foul in college. And, at just about every moment of NBA basketball that I have ever seen except this one, that's a foul in the NBA.

That just simply must be called a foul, if nothing else to allay the fears that the League may be fixing up the Finals for big ratings.

I actually do not think that the NBA is rigged (if it was the shot clock would have been reset on the play before, when Derek Fisher's shot appeared to touch the rim). But a lot of people do, and that's a problem. The way to solve that problem is to be scrupulously fair, which this was not.

And when mistakes are made, I think fans are owed a clear and honest explanation, complete with, when necessary, a swift admission that an error was made. Is that too much to ask?

And then, do me one last little favor: Look us in the eye, and tell us just one more time that the sport we love is not rigged.

    Correct call.

Though I'd too if I was about to be eliminated.

    Tim Duncan:

"You're not going to get that call. They're not going to make that call.

"I was hoping he'd go up through his arm when he did get him up in the air a little bit, but I think he took a dribble to the side trying to get a good look at it.

"He made the right play. He knows they aren't going to make that call. He's trying to get a good look at the basket - trying to get a clean shot off."

Hmmm. I wonder if Duncan is in on that NBA conspiracy to have the Lakers/Celtics in the Finals.

Or maybe you guys don't even respect your own team leader's opinion.
So you acknowledge it was a foul then?

Whatever. I thought the fans here blaming the Game 1 loss on the refs was garbage and said so numerous times, because those were borderline calls in the Lakers building after we had completely collapsed. But this was an unequivocal foul at home after we had done we had to do to get back in the game, no matter how horrid we had played prior.
Both teams got bad calls in the end. The Lakers would have won either way, though.

I'd agree with you if it weren't for the fact that if wasn't for the shot clock up, the Spurs would have never had the opportunity they had.

The fact is the Spurs got a TON of calls awarded to them in this game, especially in the 1st quarter. It was so bad Phil Jackson was calling them out in his in-game interview.
Which was some of the most classless bull I have ever seen. What did he have to say after Game 6 vs. Sacramento?

We can all agree that at the very least Fisher's shot HIT the rim, that would have most likely iced the game right there. Stop with the conspiracy bull , the Lakers outplayed the Spurs in this game and deserved the W.
nobody is saying the Lakers didn't deserve it, but the Spurs win those types of games such as game 1 against the Suns. The Suns were better for 3/4 of the game also. Nevertheless, the best team will win Thursday. If LA wins then I'm at peace with this loss.

That's because Phil is whiney little . Pop was not complaining. I have yet to see a replay where it hit the rim. Homer glasses working.

It doesn't matter that the Spurs didn't deserve to win that game. The Lakers didn't deserve to win game 1 if that's the case.

The fact is, Kobe messed up and allowed us to get within 2. In the 4th quarter they called ticky tack fouls in favor of Odom, and then as a slap in the face they get Fisher get away with murder. AGAIN.

I am surprised that little didn't run off the court again ting his pants. There is nothing we can do, and once again another Laker series is going to haunt me for the next 5 years.

I called BS on that thing PJ said - the spurs got back in the game with the 3 by barry and the layup off the steal by parker. PJ says something and then he tries to change perception of reality. He's the closest thing I've seen in sports to Goebbels.

you are the biggest dumbass I've ever seen on this board. the ball touches the backboard first.
Actually, If you go back and replay it as i have, he hits the ball just prior to it hitting the backboard. Go watch it and decide for yourself and then reconsider who the dumbass is. Take a mirror with you!
