How does everyone see this playing out?

I think in the end we will see him staying with United for another 3 at least.

    United issue Real warning

The club has released the following statement regarding Cristiano Ronaldo:

Manchester United has watched with growing irritation the comments attributed to Real Madrid over their alleged desire to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.

    The facts are:

    1) The player is on a long-term contract and his registration is held by Manchester United
    2) The player is not for sale

The club will have no alternative but to report Real Madrid to the world governing body, FIFA, if it continues to behave in this totally unacceptable fashion. These public attempts to unsettle the player are completely against the regulations and the club will not tolerate them any longer.

In addition, the club is certain that they are a distraction for the Portuguese national squad as they prepare for the European Championships. No-one should be in any doubt that Manchester United will do everything in its power to keep its best players.
It seems like there are regulations against trying to talk to a player that's under contract. I don't think Ronaldo is going anywhere for a very long time. I'm tired of seeing once successful players switch leagues and become scrubs. He's good for the Premiere League, which makes it good for world club football in general.

Cristiano Ronaldo has broken his silence over his future by reportedly declaring a desire to move to Real Madrid.

The transfer story of the summer gathers pace by the day but prior to speaking to Brazilian website Terra, little of note had been offered by the Manchester United winger.

Sir Alex Ferguson and United's owners, the Glazer family, are united in their stance that Ronaldo will not be allowed to quit Old Trafford but their resolve to keep him will now be further tested by the player's latest declaration.

Speaking from Portugal's training base in the Swiss city of Neuchatel, Ronaldo admitted, according to Terra, that a move to the Spanish capital appealed.

"I want to play for Real Madrid, but only if it is true they are eager to pay me and Manchester United what they have been saying they will," said Ronaldo.

    Message received

"However, it does not depend on me. It is important to send a message.

"From now on I will not talk again about this until the end of the Euros. It is not worth asking me because I will not reply."

On Wednesday, Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon said he would not risk ruining his club's relationship with Manchester United by bidding for a player under contract.

However, now Ronaldo has signalled his intent for a future in Spain, it could be Madrid that make the next move.

I know someone who lives in Manchester and spoke to him today.

The common thought there is he will be at United for at least one more year but the fans are prepared to see him go as long as an obscene amount of money is transferred.

ing meddling Real Madrid. They were pissing me off a while back toying with trying to lure away Kaka from A.C. Milan, but for now they quit. Anyways, I think eventually Ronaldo will go to Real Madrid.
