Thanks for showing the East what it will look like as they raise it up come mid June...
Why do you keep bringing up the east? I thought you were a Spurs fan. How does the east winning benefit the Spurs?

I'm sick of all these conspiracies crap...i'm mean, WTF?!?! All these theories are so ridiculous. Did the refs control the Spurs shooting 40% from the floor - missing so many wide open shots? The lakers kept the lead the whole way. We had a lot of control over the whole game, we were the better team. If you felt it was not fair, life is not fair, and we got screwed a few times earlier ourselves!! all i'm trying to saying is the Spurs blew Game #1 and that hangover has not let up and that's real talk!

forget looking back at the tape and over-analyzing everything, because if that were the case, the lakers have a lot of ammo they can use in this debate. (odom's "goaltend", fisher shot clock reset)

let's talk about the travel first, as a lakers fan myself... I don't get why some of you other laker fans are moaning about the travel.

sit back and think about it...
when we all sat in front of the TV and saw it live.
no one was looking at barry's foot for a slight travel.
when did we spot the "maybe" travel?
on the replay in a slowed down video. (and even then it was debatable.)

no one saw the travel in real time.

so don't expect the refs to judge it as if they had a slowed down video right then and there.
And that's why we're not PROFESSIONAL REFEREES IN HIGHEST TIER BASKETBALL LEAGUE IN THE WORLD DURING THE CONFERENCE FINALS. I'm not paid to do that, they are. I don't expect them to be able to do my job, so I shouldn't be expected to be able to do theirs.

sigh.. why can't u ppl just admit that the lakers won despite that call, it was a fun game and very heart wrenching there were so many blown calls throughout the game,, and kobe not going to the line at all despite many fouls that mite have been called, at the end it all balanced out, and nobody,i mean NOBODY would call that, not in reg. season, and not in the playoffs, sorry spurs fans but the lakers took this one and will look to finish it off thursday

not all... but of a lot... i really wanna say, more than half of the lakers fan or bandwagon fans...

you live in la, please don't deny what i'm saying is not true...
Perhaps, but that's what happens in a LARGE MARKET like LA. We probably have more "real" fans than the Spurs just because of the sheer size of our fan base.

Seriously...this wasn't a speed of the game call...

Fisher ing jumped on him so he couldn't shoot. It was right there in the middle of the court for every one to see...

You can't ing jump on a dude when he's taking a shot...that's bull ing .

    Weak...

LakerFans are so corrupt it's sickening...

What ing deceitful filth they are. They root for rapists, they cheer blatantly corrupt calls...

    Filth.
Ahhhh i love it, im actually watching you die!! hey did anybody take into consideration that the lakers arn't the ones that made the no call? It was the refs on your home court, so skip the Laker hate. if we're gonna get technical old Brent traveled before "the foul" good game though boys

Hey guys, not here to troll or anything just have a quick question for those fans that are attaching an asterisk to this game:

Forgetting the fact that the Odom block on Parker was shown to be clean because Lamar got to the ball just before it hit glass (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDiZbtkBsyw), and also not mentioning that another missed call benefited the Spurs when the shot clock was not reset after Fisher's J hit the rim with approximately 5 seconds left...

...can we not agree as logical and knowledgeable basketball fans that Barry switched hit pivot foot just before any contact was made with Fisher?

The clear sequence of events goes as follows:

Catch. Step with the left foot. Step with the right foot. Dribble. Contact.

This call was quite prevalent all year when a player with the ball that isn't dribbling is anticipating contact (usually near the basket) that player has a habit of moving both feet (thus switching his pivot foot) just before contact is made. As you can see, Barry steps with his left, then the right, and THEN dribbles.

    It's a travel.
His left arm makes contact with fisher before he puts his right foot down

So now the Spurs know how every non-Laker team in the league feels when they play the ref-darling Spurs. It's an even year, guys. Not in the cards.
    Good point.

These guys have relied on the officials to get the job done for them for so long now that they have simply lost all objectivity. Even a normally balanced poster like Timvp is posting nonsense.

Anyone who couldn't admit that SA was given call after call after call last night to even keep them close in the game is simply a deluded homer or an idiot. You choose which.

It's an old tradition of losing teams to dismiss LA fans as "bandwagon" i guess it makes them sleep better or something. They can't actually talk about our team so we're the next best thing.

You can't commit a foul after a guy travels on the same play right?

Why don't you discuss this after reading Buck Harvey's column?

    http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=97231

Since the ratings for this series are so high, maybe we could ask Commissioner Stern to have the Lakers play seven games every series, no matter how many games they win.

    Whaddayathink?

Lakers shouldn't have put themselves in a precarious position to potentially lose on the very last play of regulation. In the last 50.8 seconds of the game, Lakers were up by 7 with Gasol getting 2 free throws both of which he subsequently bricked. Had Gasol made those, the game would have been over. With about 35 seconds left in regulation and 17 on the shot clock, the Spurs still down by 4 after a Ginobili 3-pointer, Kobe made a bad decision taking an ill advised shot instead of running more time off the clock. Had the Lakers used up all the shot clock, it would have left 18 seconds in regulation and the Spurs needing 2 possessions to potentially tie/win, assuming they're still only down by 4.

Overall, the Lakers didn't finish the last minute of the game as they did the previous 3 quarters and it almost cost them game 4.

Re: "Bandwagon." Speaking for myself, I attended my first NBA game at the then-two-year-old Inglewood Forum during the 1968-69 season. The Lakers played the San Diego Rockets. I still have the program. Elgin Baylor was nearing the end of his career and his knees were shot, but I got to see him play.
My dad and I used to go to six or seven games a year, straight up Prairie Avenue -- after the game lots of us would gather around Chick's booth as he did the postgame show.

I also recall attending a couple of L.A. Stars games (before they moved to Salt Lake). Seems there was a certain team called the Dallas Chaparrals that came into town. Were y'all fans back then, or have you jumped on the Spurms bandwagon more recently?

    for Minneapolis
    for L.A.

..of course I'm just havin' some fun. I'm sure a lot of folks here go back at least to Artis Gilmore and the Iceman. The point is, don't assume folks are on a "bandwagon" when you don't know.

So, let's see what Gerry V, the Hornets radio announcer, thinks about whether or not it was a foul (See Question # 1):

i'm from fresno, ca and i'm not on any bandwagon, i've been a lakers fan all of my life and i'm not a homer, i'm a realist. should there have been a call on fisher, maybe so, but that didn't decide the game. the spurs couldn't hit an open shot and were badly out rebounded and out hustled i will acknowledge the fact that there could've and probably should've been a foul call, but you spurs fans need to acknowledge the fact that the refs missed a lot of calls that favored you guys too even more so than the lakers.
Overall, the Lakers have a huge advantage in calls in the series and the playoffs. I'm sick of people saying "Kobe didn't shoot a single free throw". Hard to get fouled on fall-away jumpers and break-aways. Get real.

It doesn't matter how good a defensive team you are. Kobe shooting 29 shots and getting 0 FTA is laughable. Kobe getting 1 FTA in 2 straight games is ridiculous.

as an aside He should be getting his team involved more and not be shooting 29 shots
