How much is your budget?
I'm looking for a decent laptop to play some games... download.. watch movies... you know... the good stuff...
so far best I've seen as far as price range around 1000 bux is the Dell Inspiron 1720....
Any of you know of a good one?
How much is your budget?
Actually, if I were you - Look into the Vostro line (small-business) and get the 1520. You can check NotebookReview for Dell coupons and get % off, and go with the Vostro. Probably the best "budget" gaming notebook.
Definitely a good deal. You can customize it to get stuff like good video cards and even Windows XP. I'm very close to picking one up.
You can get a better notebook for the money, and run OSX on it with a little know-how.
Try to avoid Vista. At least check if XP drivers are available for the notebook you're buying. In the last month I had to downgrade 2 notebooks (a VAIO and a DELL) from Vista because their were just too many problems with them (performance!).
It was fairly easy with the DELL and a nightmare with the VAIO.
Another interesting tidbit is that you can use the Vista code as a valid code when installing XP, provided you have a vista pro version or better. (not sure about the versions, but there's some sort of cut off) So checking that info is also probably smart (you can downgrade to XP and eventually go back to Vista - if they ever fix it)
I know all about Hackintosh, but the problem with that thing, is that, it'll give you a hard time updating your OS. Plus, a part of a Mac's desirability comes from the product design. Why would you want to throw that out?
make sure the screen is big, cause u need to see how big my e-schlong is
the video cards on macbooks are . macbook pro, probably OK, but not a macbook. there are some pretty ridiculous HP gaming laptops out there for around $1100 as well.
if you are trying to attract hot and intelligent women you go with a Apple
if you are trying to attract fugly/nerdy women you go with a windows machine
**this was posted from a Dell Dimension**
thanks for the input you guys... after some reasearch I found the hp pavilion 9830...
so far so good... It does come with vista but I might end up downgrading... it has blu ray... 17" monitor.. 8600m gs video card... and a 285 gig hdd... 4 gig of memory ram and an intel 2 core duo processor...
ahh to love a laptop.
how much
word...
If you can, get a laptop with upgradeable parts. It's a shame that laptops nowadays generally cannot be upgraded in any area but RAM unless you're a real expert. Some laptops like the later Dell Inspirons I hear have graphics cards that can be upgraded.
And this reminds me, that would be cool if ST got some kind of marketplace board or something.
