Oh and the lines are outrageous. If anyone is going, you should try getting there at least 1/2 hour early just to get seats.

It was quite annoying as when we got there we saw there were plenty of seats open, but damn people were leaving about 5 or 6 seats between them and stating that they were all "saving" it for someone. I hate when people do that.

Screw that!! If they aren't there then too freakin bad!!! I hate when people try and all sit together in whats going to be a freakin sold out movie ON A FRIDAY at that.

I probably will check out the new series just to see how they try and imitate the old one. Plus I want to see how token black is going to fit in at West Beverly High...

You know what's funny, I thought the same thing in the Sex and the City movie. Like they had Jennifer Hudson in the movie, I'm guessing as the token "black" person in NYC, and her role was kinda weird in the movie like it came outta the blue.

Yeah I heard she was going to be in there. Did she have a big role at all?

I saw the movie yesterday- except for certain parts I closed my eyes during.
The film made me laugh and it made me think.
    Overall, I'd give it a C. Maybe a B-.

I felt disappointed in the movie as a follow up to the series.
I couldn't reconcile some of the characters choices in the film to who I knew them to be in the television series.
    Steve, for example.

The movie addressed some important issues and did so honestly. But after all the characters had been through on the t.v. series, it was hard to watch them, Carrie especially, have to deal with more stuff.
Again, I know that is real life. But I was hoping more for a fairy tale type movie.

On the positive- I loved most of the clothes ( especially the shoes) and make up the characters wore.
And Jennifer Hudson was fantastic in the film.

Not really. She plays Carrie's personal assistant.

Angel, I was thinking of you. Cuz one of my friends refused to go see the movie last night, because she had just gone to church earlier that day and felt very guilty to watch a movie like this.

And I thought the opposite of you, I thought it was such a fairy tale type movie that it in fact when away from the show which I thought was a bit more realistic.

Yea, going to that movie was not one of my better choices for myself.

I would have been better off waiting and catching it on television.

    Oh well, lesson learned.

I am glad you enjoyed the movie.
I can't wait for the second Sisterhood of the travelling pants to come out.
That is much more my speed.

Ugh! There was a guy a few people in front of us who ending up saving like 8ish seats and he his head practically spun when people started to sit down. As we went to get our drinks he was prancing around the bar huffing and puffing because it was taking too long to get his cosmos. It made me laugh so hard.

SFIE will be pleased to hear it. We are going tomorrow before noon. I'm hoping that will ensure it isn't completely packed. He is being made to go, because I went and saw Ironman. Now, I ended up liking Ironman, so if he hates this, I'll never hear the end of it.

I also have to go see Hulk (sigh!) because he saw Narnia.
Another one bites the dust. At least he got you to see Iron Man.

Steve is a very common guy, so it made a lot of sense that it was him who did what he did. Had it been Harry I would had been surprised.

Well, SFIE hated it, but took it in good stride.

I came away with mixed reviews.

WARNING: THE REMAINDER OF THIS POST WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS. IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE AND DON'T WANT TO KNOW, STOP READING NOW.

I was extremely surprised by the Miranda/Steve thing, and even disappointed, because they were my favorites on the show. I was pleased with the resolution, but totally caught off guard (especially because it happened so early in the movie, and there wasn't adequate background given) by it happening in the first place.

I was totally unsurprised by the Big/Carrie thing; any of it really. As soon as I saw the suit, I knew the big wedding wasn't going to happen and they would have some sort of small wedding. I have always liked Big and Carried, so I'm glad they did end up together. But I thought Carrie's reaction to Big at the wedding was completely overdone. Complete overreaction, especially since she'd been expecting it. I mean, I get it on one hand, but on the other hand - he came back, no one else knows, you aren't 'humiliated' - just ing deal - scream, yell, and then talk it out, you know? Completely ending the relationship because the guy gets cold feet when you KNOW he isn't sure about marriage to begin with? I call that self-imposed misery. It would have made more sense if Big had called from the airport or something, and not just had a moment of fear.

I was also surprised at the whole proposal issue, at how unromantic it was. Did they end up with the penthouse in the end? I was unclear about that (and wouldn't it make more sense for Carrie to rent out her apartment? I mean, surely, prime real estate in Manhattan would fetch a nice monthly chunk of change for her. Right? And she could rent month to month, so if things didn't work out with Big, she wouldn't have to do more than give notice, you know?).

SFIE thought Charlotte's situation was the most unrealistic, but I generally liked that the most romantic and idealistic of them had the fairy tale happen. I was very annoyed by the pregnancy announcement though - I mean, yes, some people with fertility problems do in fact get pregnant on their own after a successful fertility treatment induced pregnancy or adoption - but it's coincidental. I disliked the cliched approach that she just stopped hoping for it, relaxed, adopted, and got lucky. I mean - if you say like that to an infertile couple, you will be seriously insulting them. So I was sad to see the movie go there.

I was most unhappy with the Samantha plotline. I really enjoyed her at the end of the series, moreso than at any other point. I can't relate to her character at all, and find her superficial and painfully one-dimensional. Towards the end though, when she displayed vulnerability and allowed that perhaps loving one man, and allowing herself to be loved was not a bad thing - I loved that. I felt it showed real growth and maturity on her part. The reversion here (and yes, I know the theme was that the girls who had allowed themselves to be changed found problems and had to rediscover themselves to find their happiness) disappointed me. I would have preferred that they simply had an open relationship where she had sex on the side. I disliked that she broke it off with Smith. I mean - what is there for a 50 year old sex addict? Maybe I'm being too harsh, but I thought it was lame, and reminiscent of the overly dramatic and lame Richard affair, which I also disliked.

Having said all of that - I really enjoyed the movie a lot. I would definitely buy it and add it to the collection and see it again. I liked seeing them all again, and I liked a lot of the acting. I'm not into fashion, so I have always rolled my eyes at the costume designers for this series and the movie was no different there, but it was fun.

I only ever saw the very first season. And by the end of that I was bored to death with it; I never imagined it would last as long as it did or that they would ever make a movie of it!

My wife went with 34 women. They met at the house first for martinis(dirty, cosmopolitan, and lemon), all dressed up in their stiletto heels, then after getting their buzz on, went to the show, where they had the back 2 rows reserved. They then went back to the house for more martinis, before 30 of them went to the gay club for a drag show.

My wiife loved the movie, btw.

No kidding. That show has sucked since the end of the first season. But, believe you me, there will be a movie. People will pay to see it, and it will be a success.
