What do you guys think of josh? i havent seen him play but spurs fans over at realgm are high on him. what do you guys think?

obviously we need to make a big splash and childres could be that player. here are some stats:

12points, 5rebs in 29 minutes. restricted FA but with josh smith on atlanta hand we might be able to steal him with just the mle. thouhgts?

He seems like another defensive player who can't shoot.

Love him. Great utility guy, great option, effective off the bench. Will not be available.

He would be a great pick-up for us. He is young, athletic, and best of all smart. This Stanford guy would fit in well with the Spurs system and would adapt more quickly than most players.

He CAN shoot - he just has an ugly shot.

He is a free agent this summer...so he WILL be available. And while this doesn't make it a lock that we could get him, it doesn't mean we can't either.

He doesn't look lost. As a matter of fact he has been Atlanta's most consistent player for the last 2 or 3 seasons...you might have noticed if you watched any teams other than our Spurs.

Why would he want to stay in ATL when he could play essentially the same role on the Spurs, who are a contender every year...not a team that makes the playoffs with 38 wins.

He's off limits for several reasons:

    - He played really good against Boston
    - THe Spurs can't reach the price this time
    - He's from Atlanta and will look to stay there now the team seems to be gearing up for a great season

A power forward in the body of a swingman.

In the games I've seen him he doesn't seem like much of a defender really, but he's a good rebounder. He stays in control on offense, which helps his shooting percentages but limits his creativity.

Meh. He'll probably be overpaid by someone, most likely the Hawks.

He'd be a great fit in SA. The Spurs have tried to trade for him. Not surprisingly, they didn't have anything the Hawks wanted. One would think that the Hawks will try to keep that team together.

If the Spurs signed him to a MLE offer sheet, the Hawks would thank them.

The only scenario in which the Spurs would have a shred of hope would be in some kind of sign and trade deal in which the Spurs take back a bad contract. Looking over their contracts, Speedy Claxton comes to mind. Of course, he could end up retiring.

if I remember correctly, the Spurs asked about trading for him before they got KT and were quickly rebuffed. Even if Atlanta has a glut of SFs, I doubt they'll let this guy go. Never hurts to ask again though.

He's not from Atlanta, he's from California. He played HS ball in California and also went to Stanford for college.

I would love it if the Spurs could get him, but I don't think even the whole MLE we would be able to get him or the other Josh...
