I won't watch a single minute. I don't believe in conspiracy theories, I just couldn't give a about those two teams. If the Pistons would've made it, then I'd watch them.
Who's gives a about ratings? It's all about the brand of ball on the court.

They did get a nice blind eye from the league though.
I dont care about Boston, but I hope they win cause I can't stand Kobe "The Rapist" Bryant. I wont be watching the Finals though I am not really that interested in any team. I think after the first 2 games most of America will not give a crap either and they'll go back to whatever the they do this time of year. As for myself I will be playing 360.
The Finals this season won't even come close to the 1998 Finals. You're crazy if you think an ABC Finals could come close to an 18.7 rating. Even if the Finals were on NBC this year they wouldn't come close to an 18.7 rating.
ABC will be lucky if they get a 12.0 rating, which would be their highest since taking over the Finals coverage.
This is the first time in years where I have no interest in watching. At best I'll check who wins probably.
Why? Because one of the teams that made it beat your team? Way to stay classy.
It seems you are also an NBA fan. For anyone else claiming not to watch this series, that is fine.
However, dont go calling yourselves basketball fans if you claim you arent going to watch the finals. If you only watch games involving your team, then I understand. REAL basketball fans (Not Celtic/Laker fans but fans in general who love the game) will watch this series.
Yea it was.
Why's that?
What a load of pretentious bull .
I'm a fan of lesbian porn, but I'm not going to tune in to watch Rosie O'donnell and Ellen Degenerous have 5 nights of hardcore sex just because I like lesbians, and just because they happen to be the most overexposed lesbians ever. I'll find out who came first some other time.
We've been told for months that this is the series we all wanted because of the uniforms these two teams are wearing. Well I'm not buying it. I've seen the Celtics and Lakers plenty of times this year. I don't find either team compelling or interesting enough to spend a great deal of time watching this series.
i never got into Buffy. im spending my finals as i did last year catching up on Disney's "Hannah Montana"
Hence the reason you are not a basketball fan, as the poster above stated. The Lakers are incredibly compelling. The tradition and history of the rivalry is incredibly compelling. The triangle offense is always incredibly compelling. Kobe himself is incredibly compelling. The Celtics play a rather boring style, but all the peripheral stuff swirling around them and their goal is not. It is idiotic to call the Lakers and this series un-interesting and it smacks of nothing more than jealous spite. At least if you claim to be a basketball fan at the same time.
What is the history of the Kobe vs. Garnett rivalry? Oh, you mean Boston vs. LA? Are we rooting for cities or players?
I don't watch basketball for "peripheral stuff."
Thank you. This is coming from a pretty cool jazz fan.
Oh. You watch it for the good play itself. Then, in that case, I would've thought you'd relish the opportunity to see the team who was good enough to dispatch the incredibly talented, world champion Spurs in only 5 games?
They're just not interesting. I've tried watching the Celtics throughout every round, and they ing don't play up to their talent and have been obnoxiously dull.
I've watched the Mavs play on, after they beat us. I've watched Lakers 2004 after they've beat us. This year the teams just don't seem that great.
Lakers still seem to be in their infancy, and got the ball to fall their way in a freakishly compe ive West and got lucky because their schedule was the most advantageous to lock up the number 1 seed. They weren't that much better than New Orleans, San Antonio. They just got a beaten and bludgeoned team that the Suns and Chris Paul/Pocket Magic Johnson feasted on.
The Celtics are a pathetic excuse for a super-team, relying on ref/media hand outs and two leaders who shrivel up mentally, only to be saved by their team's depth, and a blocky awkward Paul Pierce, gang sympathizer.
Watching Kobe get fellated by commentators and probably win the ship in a 7 game series is ho-hum and that's what the Finals is going to be. Though I think Celtics could upset Kobe if they wanted to..but who knows.
And stop with the "stay classy" throwaway lines. What the does not watching the games have to do with class?![]()
jackass
While these playoffs havent been what we thought they would be, these finals could go either way as well. Excluding the hype, celts/lakers fans, "fixed trades",players egos, etc etc as a basketball fan who is only interested in seeing the on the court game and which team would come out on top, you cant tell me you have zero interest. From a basketball fans perspective who just cares about the game itself, they would have some kind of interest in this series if they were true fans of the game.
I agree with you about the Celtics being boring. However, they did not rely on ref handouts- all their previous series were called fairly. I didn't know the media sucking them off translated into or helped them win, but hey, that's just me.
The Lakers are an awesome, awesome team to watch. I don't know how you can call them un-interesting. They score, they defend, they play together, they have an awesome offensive set, they have the best player in the league, who happens to put on a better show than anyone in the league. Basically, to deny their watchability is to not understand what good basketball is all about.
Thing is, Lakers and Celtics fans shouldn't give a what I think. I don't care that they think the Spurs are boring.
The most annoying bull , is that none of this can hold a candle to Larry Bird vs. Magic Johnson days that gained ratings on its own because they were genuine compe ors. The fact that the league actually went out of their to contrive this , IS getting borderline ridiculous as an actual equivalent to Wrestling...it wasn't by a stroke of luck or destiny, or like that, where you could tell this player is going to be (Magic Johnson's first finals etc.), it was bail outs for two stars who were screwed because they were overpaid and had questionable GM's.
Manufactured unwarranted comparisons to the great Lakers-Celtics of the 80's is a recipe for failure. KG can't even compete with Kobe, because KG isn't the type of Larry Bird, big game player that will score 15 in the fourth quarter.
The most exciting Finals series of good basketball for real NBA fans still was the 2005 finals. That's about it. The rest of the playoffs highlights were always in the conference finals at some point since 1999.
Hence the problem with Spurs homers. I didn't know 4 major blowouts, turning the series into a best of 3, an average score of 85 and an average margin of victory of 21 points counted as the best (or most exciting, LMAO) finals ever. Get real.
Spurs arent boring to me. I like to watch them play even before they had that backcourt of parker/manu. Their team defense and team play is what I really loved to watch from them. Spurs could play the Sixers in this years finals and id be watching it. I dont care what the teams are, if it is a good game or an amazing individual performance or whatever, ill watch it. I always find someway to have interest even if the series is between 2 ty teams who arent le contenders.![]()
