Call me an idiot, but why would a government 9 trillion in debt, give a $2,100.00 rebate (husband and 3 children) to someone that paid $2,500.00 in taxes after their 7,000.00 tax refund which they got the month before?
It would seem that the people that paid the lion's share of the taxes collected would get some relief as well....in all fairness. Either make it equitable or do not do anything at all....

Your first mistake is assuming the gov't wants to do anything logical.
Your second mistake, that it will do anything 'equitable.' It wasn't called the "Tax Equity Act of 2008."
Your third is not recognizing the political realities of the day which made the repubs agree to a cap so that the dems would vote for it.
The fourth is not realizing that giving $2100 to someone making $50K a year makes a much bigger difference in spending habits than to someone making $500K (or more).
The final mistake is expecting anyone here to be sympathetic.

So, people that paid 5 K or less in income taxes will get $600-$1200 back, and I, who get raped every year by Uncle Sam get nothing at all.
I guess they came up with that 175K cap, because congressmen fall below that cap....how coincidental.
