games 5-7 were exciting but the first 4 games werent outside of Manu's killer 4th quarters or the Pistons dominance on both sides of the ball in games 3 and 4.
I'll admit the Lakers are a good team, but maybe I'm comparing them to the 2000's Lakers.
The team itself I can't hate or root against. This year, has a lot to do with, being a fan of my team. I'd rather see my guys doing the stuff they're doing. (Hitting threes and making the right play)
Also, I'd have to say New Orleans was the most fun opponent I've seen.
Kobe is the kind of player that is so dominant, you'd rather see the underdog excel, and that's everyone else not Kobe.
What is annoying is to say, that to be an NBA fan , you HAVE to watch the damn finals. That doesn't mean you don't appreciate the game. , some players will watch, and some won't, depending on how sour their season was. I'm sure more Spurs players won't watch this year.
So this "real NBA fan" is just bull , in my opinion.

Alright, I won't lie, I boycotted most of the finals last year after you beat Utah, so I won't argue with what you said above.

Those finals were painful. As a Spurs fan, the only reward was the end on court celebration, Cleveland had no business being there.
I'm not sore about not being in the Finals, but really, I have the feeling that's it's gonna suck.
True, the blowouts in games 3-4, were kind of a lull, but the overall series showing two evenly matched defensive teams had been something sorely missing in recent years. I think it had to do with EC Finalists sucking so much after Jordan left, that made that Finals stand out for me.

And the Spurs brand of basketball has almost killed the NBA finals.
The last 3 appearances by the Spurs in the finals had the lowest tv ratings in the last 26 years (2003 - 6.5, 2005 5.2, 2007 6.2).
I (and most other non-Spurs fans) found these series almost unwatchable.
I don't know which series was the worst - 2003, where after the first game only one team could score more than 88 points in all of the rest of the games, or 2007, where in 3 of the 4 games neither team could score more than 85 pints.
Sure the Spurs are a great team, but no-one (besides Spurs fans) could stomach this crappy .

Spurs fan is just jealous that people will actually watch the NBA finals this season.
Thats exactly why the ratings will be high. Lakers play the most entertaining basketball in the NBA. No one watched last year because it was terrible and boring basketball.
The two most winning franchises in NBA history. The best offense in the NBA vs. best defense in the NBA. The two best teams all season meeting in the finals. MVP vs. DPOY.
I'm still smarting over the exit of the Spurs too, but come the on, people! If you can't step back far enough to at least acknowledge that this is a great matchup, then you should probably stop claiming to be a basketball fan.

It's not that it won't be a good series, but the lack of interest and enthusiasm from the freakin ABC network was sickening last year. From ESPN, ABC, on and on, they complained about the matchup. It's not the Spurs fault they handed the Cavs heads to them. Detroit screwed up a good matchup.
I'm not watching, because the media feeds us this "oh the NBA is back" just because the players wear Boston and Laker jerseys.
My only hope is that the Celtics defense kicks in and keeps the scores in the eighties. Even if they do, the media won't call it boring simply because of the laundry. Wake me when its over.

The NBA wanted this matchup because of the uniforms not because of the players. But hey they got what they wanted so let em have their fun this year and the Spurs will be back next year to "kill the ratings".

Hard to call it the worst Finals ever when a single game has yet to be played.
