Then again, I hate Kobe more than any player so I can't root for the Lakers either. If a team has to win it, all I can do is wait to celebrate that one of these two teams lost. Guaranteed KG or Kobe tears is the only reason this Finals is watchable.
No one thinks KG is as good as Duncan....and I'm sick of hearing about Kobe.
Just watch what happens if the Celtics win and the east coast media starts in on KG's greatness. He could possibly even surpass Duncan.

From what I can tell, I think they see it as KG's team. KG can continue choking and I think he'll still get the MVP.
Perhaps the best case scenario is the Celtics winning with Pierce getting MVP and KG missing the flight back to Boston for Game 6.
I've always thought the Spurs were alot like those old Celtics teams, so you'd think it would be easier to root for the franchise but.....

Watching Kobe, Gasol, Phil, Garnett, Allen, win a le is an absolute lose/lose situation. Put a gun to my head and I guess I'd have to say Celtics, because I think there's a good shot it's one and done.
If the Lakers win, The second half of the decade could look alot like the first half. So here's hoping that Kobe goes in the tank, throws his teammates under the bus, and that those young Lakers end up with some deep emotional "Maverick Scars", that never allow them to fulfill their potential.
On second thought.... Maybe California finally falls into the Pacific while they're playing in L.A.

Whottt is calling out too many people for being on the fence. Here ... I'm not on the fence at all.
Reasons I don't want the Celtics to win:
1. They are being shoved down our throat as the new "America's team."
2. People will once again start saying KG is as good as Timmy.
3. KG slapped Tim in the head and told him Happy Mother's Day.
4. Ray Allen es like a wuss about Bowen and Kobe gives Bowen respect.
5. KG didn't get suspended for intentionally pushing a ref. Tim Duncan got suspended for accidentally pushing Jack Nies. Tim Duncan got thrown out of a game for smiling.
6. Paul Pierce tried to chalk up gang signs to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness (or something else lame like Blood, Sweat and Tears).
7. KG commercials.
8. "The Big 3" in Boston is Bird, Parrish and McHale.
9. Ray Allen is a wuss. Oh yeah ... I mentioned that already. But Ray Allen is a frickin' wuss. I don't care how many good things I find out about him or how much charity work he does.
10. St. Patrick's Day isn't that fun.

Boston just seems like it would be more of a short-term agony, and the Lakers would be a 5 to 6 year nightmare.
Having said that, I actually feel myself pulling for the Lakers during the games just on the pure hatred I feel for Garnett, and Allen.
I never thought I'd see the day that I wished it was Detroit in the finals.
I agree with everything......but Phil winning again trumps all those for me. I can't stand Phill winning another and him going down as the best coach ever surpassing Red.

Seriously...Lakerfan practices a level of baggery so advanced, that nothing else is even in the same stratosphere of baggery. The idea of it winning a championship trumps any other negatives there might be in any other way about any other things, not just in basketball, but in the entire space-time continuum.

Just think about the enormity of that. The single greatest winner in US team sports history. The man who single-handedly saved Cousy and Auerbach from being the Nash and D'Antoni of their time. Their fans try to rewrite history (you'll never see Bob Ryan talk about that) but in fact there is nothing to compare to this in the annals of sport.
