Spurs will win in 2009. They're still the best team in the West, and they'll most probably be even better next season when we make some good additions to the roster. If it wasn't for Manu's injury and the crappy scheduling, we'd be fighting the Celtics right now.
If the regular season sees more disparity like the normal regular seasons before 2008, then Spurs will be right back in it.

You can never count out the Spurs with their big three intact. Hopefully an understated offseason fortune will give us the edge to benefit us more, but I have confidence that the Spurs can be resilient. They're too smart.

Sorry man, the Spurs are pretty much done and any objective fan can see that. They will always be good to make the playoffs, but that's about it at this point.

The Spurs need youth, and youth takes time to develop, and the Spurs don't have time. They need to add impact players now, but they are not a big enough market to attract quality FA's. They are in a ty situation as far as reloading, no Tiaggo Splitter hurts.

Mavs fan spouted the same garbage in 06, the thing is Duncan is capable of leading a team through the Finals, and it seems that others just fall short

2006 - Manu foul - Mavs get embarrassed by the Heat in the Finals
that Derek Fisher foul on Brent evidently had a more contact than that Manu's breath of fresh air on Dirk

I always thought I was the only person who thought of this, I guess not. Fluke series wins dont go to Finals victories.

    The Lakers won 4-1, not 4-2 or 4-3. 4-1.

The Spurs had no shot at winning that series. They were way too tired and fatigued to last a full 7 game series. Duncan and the rest of the starters were being rode to death, there was nothing left in the tank.

Except when the Lakers won in '01 and '02. There is no curse.
I'll help the Spurs fans out:

Whenever a team bas eliminated the defending champion Spurs, said team has never won the championship ('00 Suns, '04 Lakers, '06 Mavs, '08 Lakers [most likely]).

Me and my tripped out, drugged up space brain support this thread. Teams that eliminate the defending champion Spurs are indeed star-crossed.

Well the Spurs curse better stay active this year at least. For both our sakes keep the curse alive!
