Any compact, stocky, muscular dog that injures or kills a human is by definition a pit bull.
Excellent point. They call everything pit bulls.

There are 20+ breeds that are commonly incorrectly identified as pit bulls http://www.pitbullsontheweb.com/petbull/findpit.html
Funny how no one hunts down articles like these to post.

TSA I hear you. I've made this arguement here thousands of times. People have tunnel vision and they hear misinformation on a regular basis and consider it fact. You can't change their minds about anything because they already have the answers.

Family Jack Russell Terrier kills infant
Police are investigating after a Lexington baby was killed by the family dog.
The attack happened at around 3:50, Friday afternoon, at a home on Seven Pines Drive.
Police say the family's Jack Russell Terrier mauled seven-week-old Justin Mozer while his mother
was in the bathroom, reportedly bathing another child.
The coroner says the baby was found unresponsive at the home and later died at the hospital.
Right now, the death is being ruled an accident and no charges have been filed.
There's no word on Mozer's funeral arrangements.
Funeral arrangments for Justin have not yet been set.
lebombs point has no value. The child wasn't raised around that pet. Who knows how they cared for that dog.
My point was directed to the other person, not my own information.
Yall can say what you want ........you all know what the a type of dog we are talking about......you know WTF a pitbull type terrier looks like. They all look the ing same.....and they are the ones that KILL more than any other breed. If you deny it, you are just dumb.![]()
Dingos kill more than pitt bulls do.
They even took a baby from some Priest's family in Australia.
I saw the movie.

..............You're killin me!!!
There are stats dating back I don't know how long where they put the dog down and the breed is recorded differently from the initial police report and the report from the pound. Its the number one misidetified breed and thats hard facts anyone who thinks differently is just plain dumb.
Every time I see a video on the news of a mauling.....they are dragging the same type of dog (visually) into the damn pound truck. The dog may differ slightly, but they are from the same family......medium height, very stocky, wide muzzle and head and very muscular, and they usually have their ears clipped. That isnt a Pitbull??? or very similar terrier??? If people cant see that, then they are ignorant.I damn sure can tell the difference from a doberman, lab, german shepard and a Pitbull or similar TERRIER. I have a family member that owns two AKC registered Pitbulls and they look EXACTLY like the dogs we are talking about. EXACTLY. Now that being said......he is about to get rid of one of them, because this dog has become increasingly aggressive and he doesnt understand why. He raised both from puppies......purchased them both at the same time.

If the media even gets a whiff of the word Pitbull their sending out the cameras. They get tons more publicity because the word pitbull is like the word sex and everyone stops and listens. Pitbulls are the Miami Heat of national broadcasts no matter how pointless it is you can't break free of them.
You just described probably 40 breeds. Ridgebacks, whippets, all terrier breeds, mastiffs and so on are commonly confused because the general public is about as smart as a box of rocks. Whats ignorant is too assume that despite the facts and despite the proof you refuse to believe the reality of what is true and base your entire opinion on news and media coverage. You must have derived from a breed of large headed medium height slightly stocky wide eyed portly dip s that all look alike and base facts off what our media puts out. Again you're basing your beliefs on a source thats likely accurate 40 or so percent of the time.medium height, very stocky, wide muzzle and head and very muscular, and they usually have their ears clipped.
You just skimmed over all the proof you could ever want to dispell your idiotic train of thought and blindly proceeded to keep coming strong with your tried and unproven belief in complete and utter bull because the news says so and we see it everywhere and blah blah blah.
You have to be the dumbest person ever to base fact on media coverage. I hope you're sterile or a lab mauls your penis.
You cant be serious??? You absolutely cant be serious. A ridgeback and whippet looks nothing like a pitbull terrier. Please tell me you are joking. A whippet is thin as , long legs and is a race dog. You would never race a ing terrier......LMAO. A ridgeback is ing HUGE. That dog is more closely related to a shepard than a ing pitbull!!!
Also, did you just read that I KNOW personally someone that raised two AKC registered pitbulls?? Look at what the you skimmed over......living proof. He stated one of his pits has begun to be very aggressive, and he doesnt even know why. IT......I give up. Keep you pitbulls everyone......they make great pets for your children.![]()

I'm not confusing the breeds other people are. We just had a ing ridgeback confused for a rabid pitbull here a few week ago. Thats why I tossed it out there.
The news rep who did our commercial got a call about a loose pitbull and one of the neighbors was out side with a shootgun stalking the animal. They rush over and the driver identified the dogs breed as a ridgeback, the owner lived a block over and dog had up to date tags with a phone number and address. My father in law lives two streets over. Dog was returned after the kid admitted taunting the animal and breaking the dog free of his chain. The police blotter on the inside of the first page read as if they cornered a rabid dog on the loose and the pound came out to the rescue. Total garbage. The kid didn't even have broken bones and the dog was never impounded.
http://www.caller.com/news/2008/jun/...cks-young-boy/
A 9-year-old boy was attacked by a pit bull about 7 p.m. Thursday in the 2200 block of Talisman Street, police said.
The gray pit bull, previously tied in front of a residence, broke free and clamped onto the boy’s left forearm, breaking both bones in two places, according to a police brief released Friday.
The owner of the dog was not at home at the time of the attack, and the dog was impounded by the city’s animal control officers.
Just so you understand I can tell the difference between most breeds but most people can't. The news will report whatever the news wants without reprocussions.
When the dog bites somebody, it transsubstantiates into a pit bull, even while retaining the accidents of another breed. This is dog-ma.
I've owned my pit for 8 years now she gets along with cats kids babies c hiuahahs and big dogs
I have absolutely no Doubt in my mind that she would absolutely never just randomly attack someone or another animal in fact if someone were attacking me she would either run away or lick tv attacker in the face
This is the equivalent to calling all blacks Africans. Now who's the ignorant one?
In the media the term is pitbull is vague and may include other breeds with similar physical characteristics, such as the Perro de Presa Canario, Cane Corso, Dogo Argentino, Alano Espanol, Japanese Tosa, Dogue de Bordeaux, Cordoba Fighting Dog, Bull Terrier, Antebellum Bulldog, Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog, American Bulldog, Boxer, Valley Bulldog, Olde English Bulldogge, Renascence Bulldogge, and Banter Bulldogge
lebomb, I challenge you to find the pitbull, good luck, you will fail.
Only one of the pictures below features the real American PitBull Terrier. Take the test to see if you can find it. To find the breed of a dog, click on image. Note there are no mixes or rescue dogs of unknown background who's breed could be debated. All dogs have been picked from breeders' websites and should be good representatives of their breed.

LMAO at "chemical disorder", you don't know about biology...or chemistry for that matter. You sound like an idiot claiming an entire breed of dogs has a "chemical disorder"
still waiting for lebomb to take the challenge.
What argument? I already won dude.. get over yourself.
If those stats are true, why are there more PB deaths and attacks than any other pooch?
Seriously, there is no comeback to that. Your little stats got served.
Where are your stats?

The fundamental flaw found when using breed and/or statistics to define canine behavior is that it gives no recognition to natural canine behaviors and ignores dangerous ownership practices. Or, in other words, the behaviors which directly played a role in an individual case of fatal canine aggression are ignored, while breed history, image and statistics are discussed.Recently, some organizations and politicians are now found keeping "track" of Pit bull related fatalities as found reported in the media. These running logs or tabulations on the breeds involved in attacks are then used as evidence of "breed aggression".
The most obvious flaw with this "method" of addressing canine aggression is that these individuals / organizations have predetermined aggression to be the result of breed. When evidence is found (i.e., a dog involved in an attack and identified in the media to be a "Pit bull") that supports their predetermined belief, no future investigation is done on these incidents.
This approach at addressing canine aggression can be dangerous, because it either ignores or refuses to acknowledge the very real canine and human behaviors that have played a direct role in cases of canine aggression and teaches us nothing about the prevention of dog attacks.
Wonder if we feel differently today because of the mediaIn the decade between 1966-1975, less than 2% of all dogs involved in fatal attacks in the United States were of the breeds which today are targeted so frequently as the solution to canine aggression, (Pit Bull or Rottweiler).
damn i wasn't hating on pitbulls i think they're awesome but i took that test and i could not guess which one it was.
