Sweep the leg!
I was flipping through the channels last night and saw Karate Kid on. Its a classic in my mind so I tuned in and watched it. This morning I was wondering if anyone ever thought of remaking it. I googled it and found this.
BEIJING, Dec. 8 -- Hollywood star Will Smith met actor-filmmaker Stephen Chow Friday in Hong Kong, where he attended the Asian premiere of the sci-fi thriller "I am Legend," and invited him to produce, direct and star in the remake of the hit 1984 martial arts movie "The Karate Kid."
Reports say Smith selected Chow because he likes the innovative actions in Chow's "Kung Fu Hustle," as well as his latest film "CJ7," which Smith had seen a rough cut edition at Sony Pictures Classics.
Chow told the media, "I'm very fond of 'The Karate Kid' and would love to join in the remake project, no matter as a producer, director or actor. But it depends on my schedule. As you know, next year I will work on two movies, 'Dragon Ball' and 'Journey to the West.'"
Will Smith hopes to shoot the movie in China, according to Agence France-Presse.

Sweep the leg!
The first set of movies sucked, this can't be any worse.
I love Pt 1. I hope they don't ruin it if they do happen to do a remake.
Will Smith's kid is probably going to play the role of Daniel.
What can go wrong?
Starting with involving Will Smith in this movie in any form, shape, or fashion.
why is stephen chow makn a dragonball movie when there is one comin out soon?
Well, this article is from December 2007.
A black kid in China?!? That'll go over well...
I can hear it now, coming to a soundtrack near you: "You're the biggity-biggity-biggity best around..."
I remember when Hollywood would actually come up with original ideas for movies instead of remaking an old one or coming up with "Rocky XXIV: Gum Drago to Death".
Agreed. But with 2 Hulks coming out within 6 years of each other, I can see why another one would come out.
Karate Kid ahas been remade hundreds of times under different les. Most recently with "Never Back Down".
