I did like the little transformation of "The Leader"
That was a nice touch. Anyone else think Tim Blake Nelson totally stole the show? He was a scene stealer in "Oh Brother Where Art Though?" and he did it again here. He totally nailed the twitchy, off kilter personality of some college science professors I've seen.

I wondered where I'd seen him before. He was funny as . Overall, thought the movie was well done. Additionally, thought it was a tad loud at times.

Tim Blake Nelson did a great job and as soon as I saw him I was like "Oh they worked The Leader into the film?" or at least I thought it. It was a great movie and fun to see the Hulk fight it out with an actual villain. I cant wait for the next Hulk movie but I want to see the Avengers movie even more...

I saw the movie this weekend.

I have to say that it was a lot better than I would've imagined. It was ing great.

I thought the humor in it was just right, and the Ferigno/Lee cameos were pretty cool. There was great acting by all, but I really was impressed by Liv Tyler. She was perfect for the role. I've never seen her act this good. Her chemistry with Norton was right on and, dare I say it . . . . I thought she did a better job than Jennifer Connelly.

The one beef I had was with William Hurt. I think he's one of THE most overrated actors. I hate his delivery and it's like he acts knowing there's a camera near him. It showed in this movie. Maybe I was spoiled by Sam Elliott, but Hurt had a very sub-par performance.

But, all in all, it was a very good movie. It was definitely much better than the previous venture. The CG was also better this time around, though I had issues with the Abomination. I even liked the way they worked in The Leader.

Although I hope them make a sequel, the last scene with Tony Stark and Gen. Ross makes me want an Avengers movie right ing now.

By the way, I missed the Bill Bixby and Capt. America cameos.

Weren't they supposed to be in the movie?
Did I just not see it?

A couple of reviews I read before I saw the movie were bashing Liv Tyler for her performance and praising William Hurt, but I felt the exact opposite. Liv was great in the film and Hurt, well, he was just okay.

    I thought Tyler was great.

I just don't understand why people like Hurt so much. And, I think it's hard to deny that Hurt was the weak point in The Incredible Hulk.

I wonder what SFIE really thought about Hurt's performance. Sam Elliott was perfect. I just wish they would've somehow brought him back.

I saw this one yesterday and really enjoyed it.

Tim Blake Nelson is full of win. I also thought Liv Tyler was good. And quite charming. There's also enough quirk to her cuteness that I didn't have a hard time buying her as an uber nerd/cellular biologist. As for Hurt... he can be good, but when he's not he's flat out horrible. He was not good in this one.

My one nitpick, though, was the last scene -- that should have been an after-the-credits nugget for the die hards, like the scene after Iron Man.

You honestly think he was good in this?

I thought he was completely flat. I didn't see any emotion in him. There was no urgency to his character.

Like I said, maybe I'm just too influenced by Sam Elliott's portrayal in the previous movie, but I just didn't like Hurt in this one.

Yeah, I wasn't in love with Hurt. I intended to come back and write a slightly more detailed review, most of which said almost exactly the points. I really was impressed with Liv Tyler, particularly the chemistry with Norton. You got the feeling not just that they loved each other, but why as well. When I heard this was going to be a faster paced, more action filled Hulk I worried that it might come with some sacrifice to this relationship. Thankfully that didn't happen.

As for Hurt, I generally like the guy, but I didn't like him here. As you said, Elliott was better, but I think it was more the way the character was written here as much as anything. I would say it was the one place where Lee's version outshined this one. They went a little too Captain Ahab with him. I could buy his obsession with stopping Banner and the Hulk, but I was never able to really buy into him as a battle hardened general. Just not enough of a commanding presence, literally. And Elliott is a three time selection to the SAG All Grizzled team, so it was a tough act to follow.

And I'm glad to see a few people are with me on Tim Blake Nelson. I dropped by IMDB and he was getting ripped a new one there.

The more I think about it I seriously think I'm going to go see this again some time soon.

The Tyler-Norton connection was perfect. The sense of deep love and affection for each other grounded the film. It made the characters more "real", if you will.

I agree with what you said about Hurt not looking like a "battle hardened general". I think that's part of the reason why I really didn't like him. But, Elliott had the sense of urgency in NEEDING to stop the Hulk that Hurt just didn't portray.

As for Tim Blake Nelson . . . I really liked him. But, I think the problem people are probably having is the way his character is brought into the story. The Leader is supposed to be a janitor that was working in the lab where Banner was doing his expirements. He was exposed to some of the gamma rays that made Banner become the Hulk.

Come to think of it, it may have been kind of cheesy to have him become The Leader by having Banner's blood fall into a cut in his head. I'm okay with it, but I can see how this might have pissed off others.

I still liked him in the movie, though.

Overall, this movie exceeded my expectations.

Failed. Just like Iron Man. Typical Marvel bull . Gay ass story line. Easy to predict what happens next. The Hulk in love? Stupid.

They need to leave the comic books alone. Tired of these bull ass waste of time and money movies. Don't know why I even saw this dumb , I could have seen ZOHAN.

Kill Yourself, Hulk was the i liked it better than iron man. Zohan?? seriously??

I also thought this movie was pretty damn good...I'd recommend it to friends..

As for Sam Elliott or William Hurt??...of course I'd take "Conagher" over Hurt... heck they can bring him back as the General anytime they want... I think that maybe they just wanted a clean break from Ang Lee's horrible version...

I found out the other day that it's looking like they're are only going to release the hour or so worth of cut material in the Blue Ray version, which means I need a PS3 now more than ever.

I saw it recently, and I prefer Ang Lee's version: the plot was better, along with much better casting (Norton and Tyler were too whiny, for starters). However, the special effects were better in this version.

And one more thing... when will we finally see Hulk's dong? It's like he borrowed Nacho Libre's stretchy pants -- those things have to tear too, right?

He is. There's a scene where Banner is watching an old episode of "Courtship of Eddie's Father" I think and you get a clear close up of Bixby's face.

The Cap Cameo was cut, mostly because that scene centered around Banner attempting to kill himself and the Hulk coming out to thwart him. Execs or the director or someone felt it was too dark for a summer popcorn film, IIRC.
