dude we arent going to help the repeat, them
linkA team like Boston could decide to pick Serge Ibaka at 30 and stash him in Spain next season, which would help them with their problematic luxury tax situation. That’s one of the reasons Boston is heavily considering moving their pick, as they are “not in love with anyone in that range” according to one source with knowledge of the situation.
dude we arent going to help the repeat, them
Dude, perhaps the Spurs can get something good out of it.
Give them Bonner for that pick.
The Pistons pick may also be available....
http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll...127/SPORTS0102The plan, as of now, is to see how the first 25 picks unfold. If a player the Pistons like, preferably a big man, looks to be sliding, they will hold on to their 29th pick. If things are looking bleak, they will attempt to trade out of the first round.
Assuming they've not struck a deal with the Sonics, this would be a good fallback option for the Spurs if there is still a valued prospect left on the board at the end of the round.
It's great to have options.
Spurs' two second round picks for #30?
That and the Beno exception would probably do it.
giving SA two first round picks??
come on, there is no way they are going to s out guaranteed $$ to two draft picks.
no way..
I thought Boston was never going to do any trades with the Spurs cause they did not want to give up the #1 pick in 1997 (Tim Duncan) for their two #1s.
Why not? They'd be relatively low and the Spurs would only be on the hook for two seasons...and not past 2010.
Very late first round pick are often available for cash.
Do Spurs want another late first round pick and are they ready to give $3M for it ?
Looking at the latest mocks that have Lee, Walker, Batum, Ibaka and Tomic all available at the end of the round, then yes, I think it's worth the $$$. The Pistons are also listening to teams about the #29. Buying either pick or offering the 45 and 57 for one of them sounds is at least worth exploring.
Ford also says that Chris Wallace is being pressured to shed money by ownership. In other words, #28 might be available for purchase. If that is actually the case, the Spurs might consider taking back a contract with the Beno trade exception and paying the 3 million for #28. That could be a 4.5 or 5 million $ swing for Heisely. The problem is whether or not the Spurs would want to take back someone like Hakim Warrick or if the Griz are so cheap that they'd just give up someone like Lowry.
i say we go for it, we can go ahead and draft another player that we feel will help us out, even if it is a little early since we wont hav a 2nd round.
Warrick and the #28 for, say, a future 2nd round pick? Done.
Spurs could take a big like JJ Hickson or Richard Hendrix at #28 and let him spend next season on IR and in Austin.
Or they could take Bill Walker.
bill walker would likely be on the IR or austin also right? or is he good enough to contribute 10-20 mins next year?
He probably could use a year in Austin.
Acquiring a cheap contract like Lowry would be a two-fold bonus. It'd be a short contract and he just may resolve the backup PG issue. That's assuming Chalmers is off the board already.
Yeah, if they got Lowry instead that'd be a very nice move. Take a CDR or Greene at #26
#26 CDR or Greene
#28 Hickson or Hendrix
Lowry
Not bad at all.
i would love lowry here as well, him or crittenton should turn out to be fine players.
Maybe they buy the Celtics' pick too.
#26 CDR or Greene
#28 Hickson or Hendrix
#30 Tomic
Lowry
Then the Spurs could have a swing and big spend next season in Austin. Tomic could spend a year or two in the Croatian league. And they'd have their backup point.
That's too good to happen though.![]()
one of the best sounding senarios![]()
Yeah. I'm just f'ing around.
At most they'll end up with two 1st rounders.
