Damn its gunna suck if he leaves, he was really showing signs of becoming a solid player
It's Hoopsworld so I don't put a lot of stock in it. Thought I'd post it anyways. Comments? http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=9173
Reports out of Greece today have the Greek team Panathinaikos in talks with the Houston Rockets about power forward Luis Scola. According to sources close to Panathinaikos, the team for which former Rockets guard Vasilis Spanoulis plays, they're in the process of buying out Scola's contract with the Rockets so that he can return to Europe, where he has earned an impressive list of honors for his feats on the basketball court.
We're not sure what's caused the sudden commotion in Greece, but Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey assured HOOPSWORLD this morning that there is absolutely no truth to the reports.
Damn its gunna suck if he leaves, he was really showing signs of becoming a solid player
Other than Vasilis Spanoulis returning home, have ANY of these Greek league rumors EVER been true?
I can't think of a single damn one.
It is report in Greece that Panathinaikos offers Carlos Delfno big contract but that he is only little bit interested.
It was also say in Greece big sports papers that Panathinaikos make HUGE offer to Scola and also to pay all remains salary to Rockets and Scola and his agent agree and will want join Panathinaikos. But problem is also report that Rockets GM and team discuss this and consider it and decide not allow him out of contract and they also not have to.
This mean Scola would have to try same method as Spanoulis to get out of contract and this reports say he not want to do such thing. But Scola do want offer from Panathinaikos which is for several time more money than he make in NBA.

Dominique Wilkins make 3.5 million euros net salary all way back in 1996 with Panathinaikos and with the inflation and exchange rate and the no taxes think how much this be. These is usual just rumors but do not be fool about money that Panathinaikos have.
Olympiacos has offer Anthony Parker $8 million US dollar net salary and all reports say deal is 99% percent done as Olympiacos will pay all salary of his left to Raptors and they will allow him leave.
Panathinaikos owners hear this and now make attempt to make "bold move" and they say "we owes Rockets back for how they treat Spanoulis"
wow, you can't be serious!
Oh come on, a team can not make an offer to another player already under contract, that would be a violation of FIBA rules.
This sounds like an unsubstantiated rumor.

If this is real, this would be very surprising to me.
Sounds farfetched to me too but...there is always the golden rule of business.
He who has the money makes the rules.
Makes no sense to me (sounds like a rumor and a non-sensical one). I don't think Houston has to do anything. The guy is locked up for two more years. Now in 2010, things may change.
if it is true and scola does leave spur will feel 100% better about giving him to the rockets....but its hoopsworld
It's not at all a violation of FIBA rules, a team can make an offer to a player under contract without a problem.
FIBA don't have that kind of rules. Only the NBA has a rule saying that a team can't make an offer to a player who is under contract with another NBA team.
Agree. It sounds like BS.
Although I'll admit to getting the heebie jeebies when KillBill says something like this. Makes me wonder if he's getting good juice from the inside or not.
So V-Span will not join SPURS as he can get more $ in Europe
Very doubtful that Vspan comes anywhere near the NBA in the future. Especially when the exchange rate is now 1.55 to 1 and getting worse everyday. Navarro went back to the Euroleague and ya gotta wonder how many more are going to jump ship.
Assistant coach of team Dimitris Itoudis is in US and is already talk with Scola and his agent and Rockets. It is only small chance Scola will sign for Panathinaikos because Rockets must agree let him from contract and they can just say no but it is not make up about this offer.
3 years $30 million NET salary is offer Panathinaikos team have make to Scola.
Ok if they really offered that contract, it sounds like grandstanding on their part.....sort of to hoodwink the fans into thinking they are doing everything in their power to upgrade, when in reality they know that it will not happen, and actually has no chance of happening.

Not exact true. Scola and his agent agree to contract and ask Rockets let him leave and Panathinaikos tell Rockets they agree pay all his salary for last 2 years with Rockets.
Is issue that Rockets will not let him leaves contract but he and agent will do so if Rockets allows them. Is same issue as Spanoulis last year. If Scola demand trade or say he will not come back then this can happen. But Scola is not interest in try that yet.
Reports is still say that Scola and agent want to take Panathinaikos contract. This is not make up thing by Panathinaikos to looks good. They is serious and would pay 30 millions net salary. If Scola have opt out clause in NBA contract he will already be in Panathinaikos.
So this is unlikely thing to have happen that Scola will leave but do not fool self into think it is impossible. It is thing that have some small possible chance because Scola and agent really want this amounts of money.
Very hard to get Scola because he have Rockets contract but so some understand this is serious attempt by PAO team to gets him when Olympiacos owners hears of this they have now offer Hornets to pay all salary left for Peja if he can leave his contract there. He is be then offer $20 million us money in the net salary for 2 years if he can get Hornets let him leave contract.
Is report Peja and agent also want do this and because Peja is Greek citizen and his wife is Greek and he live there and his wife want go back live there. So same thing is these players is want go and get more money but NBA teams contract is blocks them. Same problem Kirilenko have last year when he try get Jazz let him from his contract so he can sign to CSKA.
But Olympiacos already get Anthony Parker as Raptors let him go from contract. if they cannot get Peja from Hornets then they is to sign Azubuike of NBA.
Panathinaikos if cannot get Scola then second choice will be Delfino but maybe they will need offer him more money. So far him and agent ask for more than they offers him.
But maybe all this can shows how much this is now in money. Panathinaikos and Olympiacos is enter new era. The owners have say they will now try to compete with NBA and make super teams in Europe. They is willing pay any amount but can only so far get interest from players that have already play in Europe before or American ones like Azubuike that is want more money.
