    Maybe it was a team option. Coach O'Brien wouldn't let Foster leave. He's one of O'Brien's favorite players on that team.

    He has a player option for this upcoming season and he is due to make $6.175M. Why on Earth would he opt out of that deal? That would be like Marion or Iverson opting out of their respective deals, since they won't come close to making that on the open market.

    true. he wouldn't make more money anywhere else, so it would be dumb to opt out.

    he's likely staying in Indiana

    True. However, Indiana is obviously rebuilding & maybe he doesn't want to be a part of that.
