Even short adults can be decapitated by passenger side airbags.
So Pee Wee would be decapitated?

    The lady is right.

The todler is too small to be in the front seat. My son did not ride in the front seat til he was tall enough to be safe if the airbag deployed. A short child can and has been killed in a 20mph crash when the airbag deployed and broke the child's neck. If you love your kid, do not put him in the front seat til he is about 10. Talk to your pediatrician about this.

I always have kids ride in the back seat.
I was a nanny for a six year old and I didn't even let her sit up front.

I would rather err on the side of safety, especially when it comes to kids.

Took my boy out for a drive yesterday since I had the day off. He's 2.5 years old and uses a booster seat not a full car seat. Its only a two seater car so he's in the front seat. Hit the gas station to pay for some overpriced scarce rare commodity fuel.

Lady at pump next to me: OMG ::gasp::

    Me: HUH What? ::bewildered::

Annoying : you can't have a baby upfront like that.

Me: He's not a baby he walks, talks and s in a toilet and I'm pretty sure he's allowed to sit there so long as he's in a properly fitted safety seat which he is.

Whiny : He's only allowed to sit in the back seat and since you don't have one he can't be in the vehicle.

Me: feel free to give Officer Off and Deputy I don't give a a call and see what they say.

Neverending : I don't have to put up with your at ude I'm calling the police right now. I'm taking down your license plate numbers so you better not leave.

    Me: you

My Boy: Who's that lady dad

Me: ::loudly:: some fat with no life and a bone to pick because no man will give her kids. Tell jealously good bye now.

    Boy: bye fat jelly see.

    Me:

Is this right or not? At first I thought no way because of all the mexxicans around with single cab trucks and we all know 99% of them have kids but I'm truely unsure as to exactly what the law says. Anyone?
It depends on whether you have a passenger side airbag.

Passenger side airbags have been known to snap necks if the person in the passenger seat isn't tall enough.

That is why they have off switches on them in newer cars.

Here is a good link to a FAQ:

Even if she was right I don't think she should have verbally jumped my ass. Had I been certain of the law I probably would have made her lick the pages of the DMV off the concrete like a dog.
True she could have handled it a little better, I think you should print out the links posted and carry them around in your car just in case you run into this loud mouth again and do what you mentioned above.

I have a very old honda Passport (a total piece of crap, but it just has to last a few months longer) with no passenger side airbags and let my 5 year old sit up front in his booster seat.

I do push the seat all the way back even so.

With myelf it is no problem, our limo has no airbags in the back seat, and our chauffeur is a very careful driver, btw.

Just so we are clear. NO AIRBAGS AT ALL. I do however shove the seat all the way up so his little beady head is kissing the dash. Trust me he's safe....fiberglass is stronger than anium at least thats what the sales person told me and he should know he sells these things.

Because I was uncertain of what the exact law is.
