Thursday evening proved to be bit of a shock to Spurs fans. With Darrell Arthur and Mario Chalmers on the board San Antonio instead decided to take a sleeper in George Hill.
"I thought April Fools was over with" Hill said on the phone after being woken up from sleeping. "Dude I just pulled a 16 hour shift on Call of Duty 4 on XBox Live, and I need my rest, are you serious?"
Serious indeed. As RC Buford on the other end of the line was somewhat surprised at his 26th pick being asleep for the draft.
"What's that crackling noise" Buford asked. "Sorry I have a thing for Hersey bars" Hill replied.
It was reported RC hung up the phone not taking much humor from the guards jokes.
"I've gotten like 30 calls since they picked me" Hill said. "Mostly from fans asking who do I think I am. Honestly man I don't know- they kinda boring anyways."
Needless to say the Spurs need for an athletic wing player remains, and Spur fans continue to riot.
