Are you sure you're reading that correctly? I think the Spurs just get Hairston and cash (not an extra pick).

Dragic is a point guard from Slovenia.

Hairston was a high school stud who was underwhelming in college. But he's a swingman with legit size who has a chance to re-find himself. I liked Dragic but he's at least two years away.

And then get cash and another second round pick?

    Got damn nice trade. Props.

The day timvp thinks 6'5" is legit size for a swingman is the day CBF is too out of touch with spurstalk.com reality to even bother trying anymore.

None of those trades tonight are official...but they will all happen. I'm pretty happy with this trade. Dragic would have never come over anyway

Nice deal for the Spurs. Maybe this draft wasn't such a cluster afterall.
Not so fast... read his bio (I won't fault you if you stop at the nba comparison):

    http://www.nbadraft.net/admincp/prof...khairston.html

NBA Comparison: Ron Mercer (less athletic)
Strengths: Strong and athletic wing with ideal size to play the 2-guard position on the next level ... A talent, was a top 10 recruit coming out of high school in an extremely deep class ... His outside shooting has shown solid improvement (though he attempted less from beyond the arc) ... Very good rebounder. (6.0 rpg as a junior) ... Very strong physically, he is tough to contain when he crashes the glass ... He's nearly a year young for his grade, giving his potential some added intrigue ...

Weaknesses: Has failed to live up to expectations three years into his college career ... Doesn't show a great deal of emotion. Appears to play lackadaisical causing critics to question his passion for the game ... Played better as a sop re than a junior as his scoring average dipped from 15.0 to 11.3 ppg ... He's physically superior to nearly every opponent he faces, yet he seems to have trouble capitalizing on it ... Decision making and skills have not developed as expected ... His ball handling and passing skills are just average ... Must develop his mid-range game ... Defensively he loses focus and lacks intensity ... Work ethic and conditioning are not where they need to be ... Needs to improve from the line where he shot just 61% as a senior ... Missed a number of games in his junior year due to injury, he'll need to show that injury problems aren't a recurring problem for him ...

Well Pop said not to get our hopes up for any Impact players...

but I feel good about Hairston, if he succeeds in earning some minutes in the rotation, he can give other defenses fits with his strength.

Which even an expansion team couldn't use.

/shrug There's a reason he's a 2nd round pick. But at least there's potential there at a position of need. As opposed to another PG. And the Spurs got some cash - which is a big deal for a small-market team. Might help open the purse strings a bit in FA.

Hairston is an under-achiever who will probably not even make the Spurs roster. It was a dumb deal by the Spurs' FO.

Even though the Jailblazers are gone, pot smoking is still alive and well in the Portland area, apparently.

Most 2nd rounders don't make the roster. But the Spurs pick up another 2nd rounder next year, and get cash. It's a great deal.
