He would have gave that same reaction with anyone willing to draft him, the first round status was just a bonus. I guess when you play in the Summit league your whole college career, even sniffing the NBA is a blessing...

You do realize that he was recruited by Florida and chose to stay home to be near his family/grandpa. He also had opportunities to transfer to bigger schools and didn't. So stop acting like he's a scrub who had no choice but to play in the Summit.

He would have gotten picked by Boston at 30 if the Spurs didn't pick him, so it's not like the Spurs were the only ones looking at him. He had an incredible showing in Orlando and did extremely well against the players from the "bigger" schools.

I honestly think the Spurs have a solid backup in Hill. Finally. The guy is a good ball player. Will he be a Chris Paul? Uh no, but he will be a reliable player for the Spurs.

If he was such a wanted commodity, why this?

Does 0 on the expected draft scale mean good?

Portland is stacked at SF. They're stacked everywhere. Rumors were they were after Alexander, but they get a pretty nice SF they can develop, a super athlete with multiple skills who won't draw a lot of shots away from their developing other players. Portland is running a rebuilding clinic right now, with Seattle shortly behind.
