"im on a

What I know is he is some undersized 2 guard that put up nice numbers at a mostly unknown conference against unknown college players. He then "supposedly" had such a great Orlando camp that he was left off pretty much all the 1st round mocks. He then had everyone on this board pretty much going "WTF" when his name was announced by David Stern. After that, pretty much all the post draft analysis I've seen is second guessing the pick because there were, what was understood by most experts, to be better players available. If you think this all translates to an "awesome" Spurs draft, you are more than en led to feel that way I guess...congratulations.

Never said it was awesome, prick. I'm just not going to pretend I'm an expert about the guy half a day after I've found out who he is.
He's a #26 draft pick.
Spurs Dynasty 21 would love you. You're just as emo as he/she/it is.
Ok prick...since the Spurs aren't gonna take the pick back, nothing we can do now but wait and see. Just because the pick was #26 though, that doesn't mean there werent other players available that could help this team next year. Only time will tell but this screams reach and I have a feeling we will be saying "should have taken <blank>" in the next couple of years...
It might come down to Hill vs. Greene and Arthur. CDR and Chalmers will be forgotten as second round picks -- they may succeed but for some reason people think of 2nd rounders in different terms.
What's a little annoying is the Spurs elected to reach for a guy who is relegated automatically to the bench while Greene or Arthur have greater starter capabilities. Does a back-up point really impact this team more than a shooting, long SF or a dynamic PF? The Spurs FO says 'yes'. Giving a promise to Hill, if they ever did, makes no sense. Was he pulling out of the draft or something?
People do that no matter what.
And it still changes nothing.
Giving my opinion is now emo? I guess the only accepted responses on this board is "Pop knows best" and "Let's give <insert name here> a chance" until they go belly up. I guess I can comply if that is what makes everyone happy...
Great pick, I really like how we outsmarted everyone in this draft! George Hill + Parker = backcourt of the future! GO SPURS GO!
Yes, you made your point already - several hours ago.
You've spent, what, more than a dozen posts ing about the pick?
I guess we can start expecting a season-long "Hill sucks thread" from you, peppered with comments like "Chaulmers... my god, what could have been..."
Do you really think the Spurs would keep a draft promise out of principle if someone they felt was much better was available?
Nonstop whining about a player you don't really know about is very emo.
Giving your opinion isn't emo. ing about it for nearly half a day is.
And way to put words in my mouth... emo prick.![]()
Yes. Going against promises tends to damage a team's reputation. I wonder what the fallout of the double promise, spam email situation will be. Regardless, why give a promise to Hill in the first place? He's going to be there, he's not pulling out of the draft, as far as I know he didn't stop working out at that point for other teams, so what?
Figures. Just about the time I start doubting Pop and RC, they go and pick a character guy.
Looking at the pictures (praying together and getting choked up when he got drafted), plus what Kori said about him choosing to stay, I'm liking this guy more and more. He's the kind of guy that I'm going to have an easy time rooting for.
Props Spurs FO.
Ok then, this pick is great. Just what the draft doctor ordered.![]()
So they wanted him.
And took him.
I don't see the issue.
Who gives a crap if he prays? Can he play?
The issue is the promise. But whatever.
I think Kori mentioned in one of the other threads on Hill that Boston wanted him with the 30th pick?
LA was wanting to move up into the early 2nd round to nab him and Cleveland was interested as well.
The Spurs probably made the promise knowing he wouldn't be there at 45.
Normally you get something for giving a guy a promise. He stays in the draft (Mahinmi) or he shuts down workouts for other teams. None of that happened here. Regardless of what other teams might have wanted -- and I'm not sure the Celtics would have taken Hill there, since they passed on Chalmers -- promising a guy who is basically guaranteed to be there with your pick and has no reason to be given a promise can prevent you from taking a Darrell Arthur when he slips.
Exactly, it's all speculation.
Who cares?
If they were high on Arthur they would have taken him.
I think we could argue degrees of impact until the cows come home.
I thought about this too (which is why I was hoping for CDR), but I think that this gives the Spurs a few more options in its own right.
First, it obviously gives the Spurs the option of resting Tony without having to slow the pace of the game (sorry Vaughn, it's just the truth). But, I think it also gives the Spurs the option of running more plays for Manu and Barry other than the iso's that they tend to run when Tony is resting.
I brought up the prayer thing because IMO that gives us a slightly better than even chance that he doesn't shoot up topless bars or give rides to wanted felons (sorry, I live in Indy so those are still fresh in my mind).
As for the "Can he play?" we'll find out this summer.
My other issue is that more value could have been squeezed out of the 26 pick if all they wanted was George Hill. There were teams, I'm sure, who would have wanted Arthur as their second choice, or a team like Detroit or Boston who hadn't picked yet. Can't you pick Arthur for Detroit, take Hill with their pick, and get something extra? Does this not occur to the Spurs FO?
