I have to say that I have some kind of weak spot for Earl Barron, strange perhaps....Besides that a few years ago the Bulls had a European Power Forward who was quite effective in the minutes that he got, too bad I forgot his name, because I thought he was a real player. And is as back up Ernest Brown not an option?
Earl Barron is a last resort. He played on a horrible, horrible team last season in a very weak conference, and couldn't show much value. I don't think he'd last in the West.
Out of that batch, I'd go with Skinner. Barron is an utterly terrible rebounder, Foyle is too one dimensional, Kwame Brown is still Kwame Brown.
True.... but if the Spurs use the full MLE on Maggette and are able to resign Kurt Thomas, I don't think they'll be looking to spend much more and will look for a cheap insurance policy to cover themselves in case of injuries to their bigs.
Rebounds per 48 min last season:
Andre Brown: 15.4
Skinner: 13.5
Foyle: 12.9
Kwame: 12.6
Barron: 10.7
Put a gun to my head, I'll choose Skinner.
Hes got some game left, has a decent jumper, and is a dirty work kinda guy that Pop likes.
who the is andre brown. i still think we should go for javtokas.
Andre Brown averaged 22.8 ppg and 10.8 rpg while shooting 63.4% from the field for the D League Sioux Falls Skyforce in '07 before signing with Memphis.
Compare with Mahinmi's stats from last year: 17.1 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 61.5 FG%.
Maybe the next Jamario Moon/Ime Udoka?
hmmm interesting.. thanks for the info.
poor timmy is gonna suffer another long season getting alley-ooped on.(i can see his face already)...imo if ian isnt half what ppl. say he is.....and we come back with this team....NO is gonna have a feel day with us...so are the lakers.....etc...
Elson might be the best cheap option.
I'd say that our 6th big would have to be able to go to the D-league (ie. be in his 1st or 2nd year in the league) so as to get full value for him. There are 3 names that come to mind
Nick Fazekas (I've pimped him before) should be available cheap - he'd be in his 2nd year, and has shown some talent and productivity at the NBA level - see his 26 games with the Clippers last year.
Andre Brown - Previously in this thread
Robert Javtokas - Yes, he'd be D-league eligible. However, I suspect he'd be really pissed about going to the D-league...
I like your thinking on D-League eligibilty, but it seems like Benson, Gist and Javtokas are the real possibilities here.
Throw me to the wolves, but I am in the "Give Kwame a chance to prove himself" club.Just bring him over for a workout and see how it turns out. Okay, begin throwing things at me.
I don't think that Gist or Benson are proper bigs - their more like tweener 3/4's...
Javtokas is a possible, but I do wonder if he is going to be out of our price range... If we spend the full MLE on Maguette or Smith, I doubt he will be willing to come over for the LLE.
/SARCASM ON
I'm sure we could get the great Sergei Kauraulov...
/SARCASM OFF
but do we want him?![]()
I think both Browns are worth a look, and I'm wondering what would provoke more anger, a vote for Elson or a vote for Kwame!
What about Patrick O'Bryant? Unfortunately he has no D-League elligibility, but hes a guy that people felt warranted the #10 pick just two years ago. For a minimum contract hes probably worth the gamble.
He's worth a look, sure. His back-up plan is lead bartender at any of the eight hundred different bars around the world named The Blarney Stone Pub.
Would Diop sign for the LLE or would he want more?
He's gonna be getting bigger offers.
