There's no such thing as a sure win, they better come ready to beat this team.

Lots of Fiba experience and a lot of them been in 04, this is a solid team.

Pepe Sanchez is the biggest loss, but yeah, not having herrmann also hurts.

That's not the final roster. Right now there are 13 players, the 12 you said plus Juan Gutierrez. The coach will bring probably 2 PGs, so Juan Gutierrez is going. So it will be something like:

    PGs:

    Prigioni, Porta/Gianella.

    SGs:

    Manu, Delfino, Quinteros.

    SFs:

    Nocioni, Kammerichs.

    Big Men:

Scola, Oberto, Roman Gonzalez, Leo Gutierrez, Juan Gutierrez

Herrman retired from the NT, he said he's not having fun playing basketball anymore, that's just a job for him. Pepe Sanchez is the biggest lost, Barcelona's coach didn't let him go, and now he just waived him. He signed for Real Madrid (a good example of why the clubs, even if paying the bills, mean ).

Pepe Sanchez is a great great lost, he was the best player of Argentina in 2006. But, on the other hand, Scola is playing better than ever. I just saw him in the friendly matches and the guy is a complete beast. No wonder, he is the current captain of the team.

Having said so, there's no chance for Argentina to defeat Team USA this year, unless they play like complete utter garbage.

sadly, but i believe if u gave the 92 Dream Team a summer to get into game shape, they could have a better chance for gold than this current US roster.

No, I don't think so. You need two things in order to succeed in international ball: good PGs, and dominant big men.

Take a look at the 2002 roster:

Reggie Miller, Paul Pierce, Ben Wallace, Jermaine O'Neal, Shawn Marion, Baron Davis, Antonio Davis, Michael Finley, Andre Miller, Jay Williams, Elton Brand, Raef LaFrentz.

    2004:

Tim Duncan, Allen Iverson, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Amare Stoudemire, Shawn Marion, Carlos Boozer, Carmelo Anthony, Stephon Marbury, Richard Jefferson, Lamar Odom, Emeka Okafor

    2006:

LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Antawn Jamison, Brad Miller, Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh, Elton Brand, Shane Battier, Kirk Hinrich, Chris Paul, Joe Johnson.

    And 2008:

Kobe Bryant, Jason Kidd, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Carlos Boozer, Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh, Chris Paul, Tayshaun Prince, Michael Redd, Deron Williams

    See the difference?

For start, they're finally bringing real PGs (Jason Kidd, Deron Williams and Chris Paul, who was a kid in 2006). Then, they're also bringing really a dominant big in Dwight Howard (also a kid in 2006, now he knows what to expect). I would be more than happy if Howard don't make it, and they bring Amare instead (whom, in my opinion, sucks big time, a cold-chest asshole who travels every time and can't defend ).

Duncan was in theory great for 2004, but if you remember correctly he had foul issues against argentina. Besides, a fundamental player like him is much easier to handle than a powerfull center like Howard in the FIBA world.

As funny as this sounds, Jason Kidd is a proven winner for Team USA in FIBA world, Deron and CP3 are solid backups for him; and there's no team in the planet that can guard Dwight Howard. He will get 30 boards a game. It's insane.
