DB.com saying Mavs may be looking to acquire Diop in S&T with New Jersey. He'd technically be making the amount of the MLE (5.7), but working S&T would obviously leave the Mavs the opportunity to pursue Maggette, Posey and others. Jersey won't want Diop for a bunch of garbage contracts. Stack and Jones likely will be used, Breath is another option. This may also be why we're hearing JJB was signed to a 3 yr deal. This may be what's in the works for Vince Carter. I'm down if he comes with Marcus Williams. Krstic is another possibility.

Only if Carter is that piece. There were talks on draft night of the Mavs putting together a package (Jason Terry was floated in there) for VC, but nothing came to light. If Lue leaves and Barea is only signed to be traded, I'd hope they get at least Williams back for PG duties. There may also be a 3rd team involved in this. Good news. We need him at center. Especially with an aging Dampier. I actually think Diop should be starting with Dampier coming off the bench. I think Diop gives us great energy to start the game. He is being wasted if he is guarding players off the bench. He should be guarding the other teams best bigman.
Agreed. Diop should get 25-30 minutes a night and Damp gets whatever is left over. This might actually happen now that Avery is gone. The guy had a boner for Damp before he ever joined the Mavs, and it was painfully obvious that he was going to force the Big Vagina into playing no matter how bad he sucked.

and James Posey will not bring me back. Great, a bench player who will gives us 7 and 5 a night and won't really be worth the money until we get to the Finals.......too bad the team sucks too much to make it to the Finals in the first place.
The James Posey love makes zero sense. He's the new Robert Horry - he'll put a championship caliber team over the top, but he's not going to turn a first round exit team into anything more.
Adding VC and Kristic to the mavs, while still retaining our core pieces would make us one of a team next year
