So any fight which is not in UFC rules sucks?
Evan
Do we know if Tim will be allowed to throw punches?
Or is he forced to win via harsh language?
Nope, never said that.
I hate elbows to be honest. I actually prefer PRIDE rules except for stomping.
I think someone would have eventually died.
I liked the stomping, but I hated it. It makes for good TV and youtube videos, but when I think about...like evan said....someone could have died.
Everytime I saw it I cringed...it would have been so easy to land a heel and a throat is crushed.
I am surprised we don't know the full rull set since it's only 2 wks away??
brother they got problems. big big problems. Go to ticketmaster and look up available seats...and comcast on the east coast isn't carrying this on PPV.
I wish this was happening in Japan.
I hate stomps. I think their too dangerous. Im ok with elbows but i wish the Ufc would allow up kicks and soccer kicks. i also i think no knees to a down opponent is kind of stupid. I dont mind allowing elbows because they are a good weapon but it annoys me when guys like Kenflo, who i love, but he throws elbows for the sole pupose of cutting the guys face apart.
Died of stomping?
Stomps never did a big demage. I just watched the Nog - Shogun fight and Shogun loved the stomping and jumping on opponents. It didn't cause much of a demage to Nog.
But whatever.
I am sure it has caused serious damage in the past.
You're taking a MMA fighter with big time strength and allowing them to stomp at some point its going to crush someones neck or smash their nose into their brain.
It would eventually have happened. even crushing someones eyeball and blinding them in one eye...that's not good and its not needed.
I don't like soccer kicks but I would love knees to come back.
And for the record Dana said he wants knees allowed but he has to get NY on board before they do this. He said this sometime last year.
If im correct i dont think soccer kicks do that much beneficial. They are usually only used after the opponent is KO'd or rocked (i.e. Soku-Arona). Im would be fine with allowing the knees but taking away elbows. But i think if you take away elbows it hurts so many fighter's game.
Agree. By the time soccer kicks become usable the fights over.
I would love for US rules ban GnP elbows but allow standing elbows.
wow kind of ironic..check out the poll on sherdog...
Should the UFC alter its permitted techniques and weight classes to conform to the revised Unified Rules?
Yes, Zuffa has stated unified rules are critical to the sport's growth
64%
No, UFC's rule structure is fine as is
36%
I vote yes. i think the entire sport needs to have the same unified rules.

Didn't take long for them to get Taylor back into the UFC. Looks like he's gonna fight Dalloway in the next fight night.
BJ could beat him with concrete blocks attached to his feet.
yeah i dont understand that. i guess his punishment was not getting a chance to fight for the TUF le. seems strange to me. i would have just let him fight amir.
Maybe he's done all the "rehabilitation" that they put in front of him. I'm all for giving someone a second chance, but this just makes it seem more like his "expulsion" from UFC was all for better TV>
This is becoming alarming…how is it possible we know so little about this event? I was certain there would be some news coming out Saturday to steal some of the UFC's thunder and take away a few thousand PPV buys. This should have been a priority of Affliction.
I just checked ticketmaster...tons of good seats available.

MMA outside the UFC sucks and that’s a very bad thing for the sport. The best thing that can happen is for Kimbo to lose so EliteXC can get back on track and stop focusing on him and DREAM to start filling out the arena in Tokyo…not Yokahama or Osaka. That’s critical..they need to succeed in Tokyo.
We'll have a strong number 2 org soon enough but I have no clue who that will be.
Awesome, Fedor has his excuse. If he loses, he's hurt, if he wins, well...he's Fedor.

FEDOR EMELIANENKO has injury concerns ahead of his fight with Tim Sylvia, according to UFC superstar Michael Bisping.
Russian legend Emelianenko, 31, squares up against former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia in a fight for new MMA promotion Affliction on 19 July.
But speaking exclusively to SunSport, British star Bisping, 29, claims The Last Emperor will go into the bout with 32-year-old American Sylvia at less than full fitness.
Bisping said: “It’s going to be good to see if Fedor is still the man but I’ve heard on the grapevine from inside sources that he could be injured.“But this is time for Fedor to step up. Everyone knows what Tim Sylvia is all about but Fedor’s had an aura about him for a long time.
“The guy was devastating in Pride but he’s had a long lay off now and his last couple of fights have been against smaller guys.
“It’ll be interesting to see if he’s still got what he had in Pride - which I’m sure he has - because the guy’s probably the best fighter in MMA history.”
Emelianenko will be the favourite going into the heavyweight clash, but Bisping warned the Russian of the threat Sylvia poses.
Bisping added: “Tim will give anyone a hard day, he’s a very, very experienced, underrated fighter and has knocked out a who’s who of MMA.
“But he’s gone a little bit stale lately – he’s trying not to lose as opposed to trying to win which has given him a boring style.
“In the past he was knocking people out left, right and centre. If he gets back to his roots and goes out like that then who knows, maybe he could surprise a lot of people.”
But Bisping admitted: “I think the fight will play out similar to when Randy Couture fought Tim Sylvia, but I’m picking Fedor to beat Tim.”
