its not released yet, i am sure they are working out the kinks.... release date is q2, but that always changes...
, need to choose between this and the 2nd gen iPhone in the fall...
umm yeah. i'll take an Apple interface over Windows mobile anyday. the iPhone already blows this out of the water, and so does the Nokia N95.
Ur on crack... I have a n95
$199 iphone coming this fall???

N95 is still the best smartphone on the market right now.

Addy fiddled with the HTC Touch at the official unveiling about a month ago, but we've just got our own units delivered to us for extensive in-home testing. The exterior looks as nice as we've already seen in unboxing shots, and the TouchFlo is much more refined than the previous incarnations in HTC's ever-expanding Touch line. The problem? TouchFlo is slow as balls. And that's kind of an insult to balls, which are actually pretty fast from our past experience.
I agree that WinMo completely sux, however TouchFlo really helps out with navigation. But the previous times I messed around with the TouchDual and the Polaris, it still didn't hold a candle to apple's OS.
WinMo 6.1 is getting good certainly from the crap that windows mobile 5 was, but signal will be challenging around here in the States. It lacks GSM 850 for calls working on just the 1900 Band and for data it doesn't have HSDPA 850/1900 only 1900 EDGE. This is a great HTC phone if you're in Europe or anywhere else. The U.S. version should be good though once they get that incarnation going.
Personally I'm awaiting this bad boy here.
Verizon Wireless ONLY unless a quota isn't met, but I don't think this will have trouble selling. I only hope the browser is improved and if it is then this will be sweet.
New iPhone gets announced tomorrow. Lets wait and judge these 2 then.
There's nothing on that thing that the iPhone doesn't seem to do easier, faster, and better designed.
But if you say so.
That thing certainly doesn't look better than the iPone, maybe it works better....
Samsung Instinct FTW!!!!
Screw the Diamond, the Instinct in kicks ass. Had mine for a week and it is one nice phone!
just thought Id share!
I heard its a good phone, but how is the web browser on it?
Thats mostly the only reason I carry an iPhone because Mobile Safari is the best browser out there. I like Opera Mini too but if the Instincts browser is as bad as a Treo's Blazer then forget it. Blazer is the worst mobile browser in history.
the instinct's browser can't come close to hanging with mobile Safari, but is supposedly Sprint's best phone:
http://gizmodo.com/tag/samsung-instinct
Definitely Sprint's best phone.
If its passable on the browser then thats the deal breaker for me. I know I'm waiting to see that Blackberry Verizon has up there, a touch screen and all the stuff they're rumoring to have on it will make it great...Except for the browser.
Why don't these guys improve them? Mobile Safari as far as I'm concerned is the best thing about the iPhone and any phone. Its by far the best experience on mobile. If that blackberries browser s the bed like the current incarnation then forget it.
The browser is not as good as Safari, but its better then anything else on the Sprint network.
It does interface with YouTube very well though, and if you download video from your PC to the phone, it works very nice.
The GPS is better than the Iphone, its realtime, like a Garmin, or a TomTom. It gives you audible turn by turn directions. I did run into a slight glitch in it last night though, Meg and I, along with Johnny_Blaze went to a friends house to watch the UFC and it told us to turn South on I 35, but the map clearly showed to turn North. Other than that one problem, its been flawless. Another slight drawback to the GPS is that it sucks the battery down pretty good. I guess thats why the give you an extra battery with the phone.
The MP3 player is good, again not quite as good as the IPhone, but way better then anything else Sprint has to offer. There are other features that the Instinct has like Sirius Satellite radio (6.95 a month) and Sprint premier radio (free) that I can listen to instead of the MP#s if I choose. Also I can download video from Mobile CNN, FOX Sports Mobile, and E! if I choose to. I have only used the CNN so far, and its pretty cool.
Battery usage is good, I just have to charge it every night, not a big deal for me. Except for the GPS thing, which I noted above.
So far after a couple of weeks I really really like this phone, although probably NOT an IPhone killer as advertised, I would rank it just past the first IPhone, but Im sure the 3G IPhone is going to be slightly better then this.
the touch pro looks nice too.....
I got the Instinct, and I'm really liking it. I had a Moto Q before. I do wish the browser was a bit better. I hate scrolling left to right to read a post on here. My moto Q would fit it onto it's small screen just fine. I can make it smaller on the Instinct but it's way to small.
Also on my Moto Q I could throw a mp3 on the memory card and use it as a ringer, I can't on the Instinct. I have to send it to my phone via a online mp3 sender and then it works but takes up space on the phone.
Also when I upload straight to youtube, I get no sound or a static sound.
Never mind. I got it confused with Opera mini
