wow Cole Miller-Jorge Gurgel was one of the best fights ive ever seen in my life. kind of makes me mad because i like Gurgel, but still of a fight for both guys. Gurgel looked awesome outside of the last 30 seconds.
* Forrest Griffin and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson each earned a $60,000 “Fight of the Night” bonus for their 5 round war
* Melvin Guillard received $60,000 for “Knockout of the Night” after his 1st round KO over Dennis Siver. (Guillard’s KO was also the only (T)KO of the night)
* Cole Miller earned “Submission of the Night” and $60,000 for his 3rd round triangle choke over Jorge Gurgel.

question...it seems everytime there is a split decision, the guy whos name was called first ends up winning the fight. so i guess my question is...is this always true? ive never seen it where it's not the case.
I only got to watch the last two round of the fight with no idea what happened in the beginning. Rampage won both of those rounds and looked like he was dominating the fight, so I was shocked at the decision.
“I got my ass whipped”
—Quinton Jackson
No way did Rampage win the 5th round. Forrest controlled the ring, and landed the better shots.
Rampage and Griffin pretty much went toe to toe. I was pulling for Griffin, but in a case like last night, when it comes down to decision, which is subjective, and its really close, you gotta do it again.
But that is why they have a point system. I really like Griffin, so Im happy for him. Rampage was gracious, and said he got his ass whooped, but neither man got their ass whooped.
I say there will be a Griffin vs Rampage 2 in November or December.
Not the best PPV. I wanted Rampage to win, but I really like Forrest. Congrats bro...And Melvin is back!
It was close, but I thought Griffin won 3 rounds to Jackson's 2.
I thought he said he would, but nobody took that bet I guess. Griffin would have racked up had he taken it.
Yeah Forrest never took him up on it. oops
And I agree with ATRAIN...we're looking at a fast re-match assuming Rampage's leg isn't shot with torn ligaments or a possible stress fracture.
Poor Rampage has a nasty road ahead of him..his next three fights are likely to be against (in no order) Wanderlei, Forrest and Liddell. And if he wins the le back you can add Lyoto to that mix.
Dude needs a raise...hah
Forrest quote
"If you look at UFC champions: BJ Penn - terrifying! GSP - terrifying! Anderson Silva - terrifying! But I'm not terrifying. I am not the super-submission guy, I am not the one-punch KO guy, so I am not the most feared guy in the world.
"But I will not quit, I will not break and I will fight you like a dog for every second of every round. I am not a super-talented guy, I'm just a dude who will fight you tooth and nail."
Those kinds of quotes are what make Forrest my favorite fighter.
Exactly. I love that kind of mentality.

just finished watching the fight, and wow, it was really close, but i can see why forrest won, the dude dominated a whole 5 minute round whereas rampage only had bits and pieces of the other rounds, he never really dominated him, even when he had forrest on the ground he didn't do .........so yeah, congrats to forrest......... i hope liddell fights him cause chuck will kill him lol
i like how forrest said a lot, so i'm starting to like him more lol
Yes.
I agree too that we're seeing a rematch again, perhaps before the end of the year.
ive been rooting against forrest since he beat my favorite shogun, but looks like hes the real deal..
After re-watching, I'm sticking with a draw...47-47
1st – 10-9 Rampage
2nd – 10-8 Forrest
3rd – 10-9 Rampage (very close rd)
4th – 10-9 Rampage
5th – 10-9 Forrest (very close rd)
I don't have a problem with Forrest winning, but I do have a problem with the details of the judging...
Rd 1 to Forrest on 2 judge's card?
4 rds to 1 for Forrest on one card?
I have no faith in these judges...
Overall, a so-so card...
Cote-Almeida was a TURD. I actually had Almeida winning 29-28 with the takedown/sub attempt in the last 30 seconds of the 3rd being the difference. Cote landed 3 leg kicks and Almeida landed a couple decent punches and got the takedown. Not really a reversal by Cote since Almeida sold out on whatever sub he attempted (hard to tell). Cote didn't earn a reversal there. Cote will get KILLED by Silva...I can't believe Dana said he's in line for a le shot after THAT performance.
Tyson Griffin is great but can't buy a finish...Aurelio can't beat A-level fighters (except for the win over Gomi)...
Nice comeback for Stevenson...he was getting dominated by Tibau, who is HUGE...didn't even look like the same weight class.
Poor Lytle...he's officially a gatekeeper now...
Miller-Gurgel was great...so was Hill-Buchholz...
I agree exactly with you Leonard...I was thinking the same thing, and I too have no problem with forrest winning.
