    Kosuke Fukudome?!?!?!

    285 7 home runs?!?!

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!

Skip Schumacher has way better numbers than him so therefore HE should be in it. , Rick Ankiel has a legit arguement he should be there as well.

An absolute joke that Fukudome is on the all star team.

Agreed. Or at least do like the NFL. 1/3 fans, 1/3 coaches, 1/3 players.

I would also like to see the "one team has to have one rep" rule go.

    Outfielder for the Cubs.

If you play for the Cubs, and your a 285 hitter and japanese your automatically an all star apparently.

    Oh well.

Ryan Ludwick made the team, and was a player's choice.
You want a great story? Look him up, dude was out of baseball almost a couple years ago with serious knee and hip injuries, and hes finally getting to show his talent.

He was like the 4th overall pick in the first round of the draft a few years back projected to be what he is now, and was drafted by????

    The Texas Rangers Who else.

sons it is and always has been simply a popularity contest. hence why many players who are free agents want to go to the bigger market teams so that they can get un-deserved media attention (Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, Dodgers, Mets) .... all a player on the bigger market teams has to do is hit for a decent average and he will be considered a all star in ESPN's eyes and they will praise those players as if they are true all stars. thats all it takes for simple minded idiotic "baseball fans" to vote for the "trendy and popular" players because ESPN tells em too.

They need to make a decision...

Is it a game for the fans entertainment? Or does it mean something. If it's the former, keep fan voting and let them get who they want. If it's the latter, they need to take the serious and get the players in there who deserve to be there.

And if they're basing homefield in the world series on the all star game...then obviously they're at least attempting to take it serious.

now that I think about it...

If I was a AL league fan (which I am) I would intentionally vote in guys who didn't deserve it, just so the AL would win the all star game. (I don't vote, but I'm sure people out there think like that)

Hey, they voted in Geo Soto so they must be doing something right.

And Soriano is very over-rated due to his uber-suspect defense, injuries, & his injuries scaring him away from stealing bases like he should.

Still, none of the dude's power comes from muscle. It comes from aggressively using the smoothest and the prettiest swing in the MLB. Watching him uncoil into a HR is worth the price of admission and although he's over-rated in general, it's easy to see why when you consider just how athletic his offensive is.

what is this the little league All Stars? I'm surprised they don't do everyone has one inning in field and one at bat. It sucks and is a joke as is the voting.

I like the way the NFL does it but its too bad the Pro Bowl is a joke and everyone avoids it like the bubonic plague

I like the one player per team rule. It's a tradition that was meaningful to me when I was a young fan and I don't see any dire need to change it.

I'd also like a max players rule per team. That way, if your fan base votes in the likes of Fukudome or stuffs the ballot with only home-team (or bandwagon team) players, you are more likely to have a deserving pitcher or reserve left off the team.

I'd also like to end this ridiculous experiment of having the ASG determine the home field team in the WS. If there is really that much concern about players and coaches not caring enough about who wins, then add a few more roster spots.

That business of deciding Home Field advantage is a disaster. Thats one of the dumbest damn gimmicks ever, I don't think there is anything close to that.
