Then it would average out to less than 350mb a day if it's 5gig a month correct?
Would be a worse option then.
Woe is me.
AT&T have a cap?

WTF? Those assholes!![]()
Yeah, like I said, we were gonna go with sprint, but the cap is stupid. We current have verizon as our phone company. They don't offer high speed internet what so ever. They own a good part of wilson county. I'm waiting for this. http://www.stelera.com/
We are right on the border to getting this. We contacted a local retailer, and they said, by October or November, we should have service. Currently all of 775 doesn't have courage. So in a few months, there should be much bigger service range.
Yep...AT&T as always playing follow the leader decided to ins ute a 5 GB cap like Verizon did.
Sprint shot themselves in the foot doing the same thing too, they're in dire straits financially now and they pissed off alot of customers doing that too.

I just checked. I just signed a 2-year Sprint contract with unlimited MB last month. It still has that listed on my on-line account. I need to see if there's some fine print that says they can change that.![]()
Shoogar I have both Sprint EVDO and Verizon.
Verizon WILL Throttle you down to 200 kbps speeds and I know they've done that to me because thats what i'm getting on it now. I went over 20 GB
Sprint I believe we'll be ok on it even if we casually go over it a few GB's a month. We're still on unlimited if we sign up BEFORE July 13 which is when that new cap and TOS goes into effect.
We're grandfathered in as "Unlimited" but I think if you rreally go overboard they'll throttle you too.
So what do yall think my best option is? Go with sprint before the 13 and avoid the new tos, or stick it out alittle longer and go with http://www.stelera.com/ which speeds claim to be really fast and unlimited. I think I would go over the 5gb cap with sprint, but I was reading somewhere that only 1% of their users go over 5gb a month.
Sprint will have WiMax soon, that is supposed to be pretty good and they've been touting it as your main broadband replacement whereas they're pissy about EVDO and limit that.
They're a telecom so I wouldn't trust those weasels anyways.
I don't know much about Stelera, but I'd tell you THIS.
Maybe try out Sprint EVDO card NOW...sign up for it NOW then if they start you can cancel it without ETF because they changed the TOS. You may be able to get out of it with no cost
Verizon's new EVDO policy is very nasty, they'll actually bill you for going over I think if memory serves me correctly. they're really anal about that and started this cap bull . They deservedly got sued by New York State for pulling this .
Yeah, so get it by the 13th while the cap and all that is not in place. Then If they claim I go over this "cap" I complain and say that there wasn't a cap in my contract and if they still want to about how much I use, cancel and get ETF cause they screwed up the TOS? Sounds good, cause I can't wait till Oct.
Well, I use the Sprint broadband mostly for business travel, and only occasionally will I be over 5 GB/month, so I guess I'm good.
Looks interesting, but it's not clear what the difference is between the different plans (residential/business/enhanced/premier). Are they capped? Also, their coverage area right now is just Floresville/Poth, and you always wonder how reliable they are going to be on expansion.
On the other hand, the Sprint broadband will give you only access for one computer, while Stelera promises that you can set up a wireless hub for multiple computers in your house.
Yeah a few GB over the cap you'll be ok...I had done with Verizon 6 to 8 gigs then two months in a row I did 17GB and 20GB they throttled it.
Also if you use one tower at a time or the same place then they'll catch you. I made that mistake with the Verizon. I set up a EVDO Router for a network here at home and it went over, plus my stupid ass neighbor's kids I think leeched off me too. Thats at home here off of the same tower, before I was mobile and using it all over and different towers.
1gb = 1024mb (right?)
5gb = 5120mb
5120mb divided by 30 days in a month = 170.67mb per day
So if my math is correct I am given 10.25gb a month. That's 350mb a day, times 30 days in a month, divided by 1024mb aka 1gb.
So, 5gb a month to me is insane. Now I feel like I don't have it so bad seeing what you guys get. And I don't understand how I still go over so easily...
It's not quite that simple. You get 350 megs a day, but that doesn't mean you'll get to use 10 GB a month.
Theoretically, somebody with the 5 GB/month could do nothing for three weeks, then use up the whole thing in a few days. On the other hand, you don't get to roll over your daily 350 MB--if you don't use it, it's gone.
Unless, you cap > 50% of the time, the 350 MB/day cap equates to being closer to 5 GB/month than 10.
Damn, I hope every ISP doesn't start capping... 350MB is one episode of a TV show I missed... One time I downloaded a bunch of DVD .ISOs (like 50) in one day and those were almost 5GB each.
That's stupid... 350mb is 1/1000th of ONE of my hard drives...
