Adam Sandler's best performance.
I actually like the movie and the dark humor in it.
I think of all the PTA films, it had arguably the weakest story, but the film's cinematography (especially in its use of brights) makes it visually his second best behind There Will Be Blood.
Thoughts on this movie?
Adam Sandler's best performance.
I actually like the movie and the dark humor in it.
"Barry, I'm a dentist"
That line alone is funnier than anything in any other Sandler film
The film is also a lot deeper than the story lets on, and much of it actually has to do with the visuals. I get a kick out of the "Lena is an alien" theory.
I don't like the movie. I don't think Adam Sandler is believable in it.
BTW, if you've got the movie, check out the special features and go to deleted scenes. There is a scene/blooper that was cut out of the movie where Philip Seymour Hoffman is shooting a commercial (for the conniving company he works for in the movie) and he falls on his back from like 15 feet up in the air. The fall looks brutal but he walks it off as if nothing had happened.
Yeah the visuals in this movie were beyond gorgeous. PTA created the best looking grocery store ever put to film
And I agree Mono, the Dentist line is my favorite as well.
It's actually based on a real commercial where that exact thing happens.
Yea, I read up that there was also some dude in real life who was able to get like a lifetime worth of plane tickets by using the same loophole in the movie.
Great movie. I loved it.
You may also like "Spanglish" if you like this movie.
Spanglish was also pretty good, although Sandler really didn't shine in that movie. That movie was owned by Paz Vega and Shelbie Bruce.
yeah it was. Spanglish is one of the worst movies I've ever seen, but Paz Vega was enough to keep me watching.
I've seen Spanglish a couple of times, and Paz Vega is the only reason why. She's gorgeous.
As for Punch-Drunk Love, it is one of my favorite films, and was my favorite PTA film until I saw There Will Be Blood. It's an excellent performance by Sandler, and the direction is just amazing.
