David Lee 6'9 249 PF, makes 1.7 mil this year and 2.8 next year for the trade exception. We know D'Antoni doesnt favor him and it can help the Knicks reduce some payroll

totally agree with you, have been singing his praises since I first noticed his hops in the rookie v sop re game just over a year ago. The guy runs the floor well, is athletic and has the right at ude to the game. He is definitely worth that money over Bonner, maybe throw in Bonner with a 2nd round draft pick and cash considerations.

It doesn't solve the need for additional scoring from the 2-guard spot. That has to be the priority for the moment.

Bonner is a hustle guy. He is also a Big who can give you outside shooting. He would be a nice addition and offer mismatches in DAntoni's system.

I agree with you about Bonner having little trade value, but stranger things have happened. You pat my back now and I may be able to pat yours later. Hmmmm it is by no means on the same scale, but you could easily describe the Gasol trade as a pathetic offering. But more importantly I think it is pathetic to criticise without coming back with a proposal of your own.

    remember D'Antoni likes a 7 man rotation
    1. Duhon 2.Crawford 3.Richardson 4.Randolph 5.Curry 6. Jefferies and maybe 7. Marbury

We wouldn't have to include Bonner and a 2nd...in fact we couldn't. The trade exception has to be used alone.

If we could get Lee for Beno's exception that would be sweet, especially since his contract would run out at the end of the 2009-10 season......just in time for the dream 2010 FA summer.

I would like to see GS sign Barnes, then trade him to the Spurs for Bonner + 2nd.

Have Washington sign Mason, then trade him to the Spurs for Udoka, Vaughn, + 2nd

    Sign Herrmann to the LLE

    Sign Nocioni to the MLE

Re-sign Horry and Thomas to vet min

    Sign Hill and Hairston

    PG - Parker, Mason, Hill
    SG - Manu, Nocioni, Hairston
    SF - Bowen, Barnes, Herrmann
    PF - Duncan, Horry, Thomas
    C - Oberto, Mahimni

We would have very much needed youth, athleticism, and depth, especially on the wing. This would be important cause of Manu being injured right now and still playing in the Olympics. The depth gives us insurance and allows Manu to start the season slow and not have to be rushed into playing as much.

You can't sign Nocioni to the MLE - he is not a FA. He is under contract with the Bulls to make $8M this year. The only way he joins us is via trade.

The Spurs don't need to consider resigning Finley or Barry yet - not until they've exhhausted whatever remaining avenues are left. If it comes to that, Barry would be the choice. However, I'm sure he'll be looking for at least a 2-yr deal.

    Finley's time is done.

The only way that would work, I guess, is if we were to sign a FA that the Bulls like to an MLE deal and then trade him to the Bulls - because as Mr.Bottomtooth said, you can't trade the MLE itself. It's not going to happen though.

And then you have to wait until December to trade that FA, which is there to close this loophole. As you said, it's not going to happen.

Unless of course the Bulls want Finley or Horry for the MLE.

Yeah.. an S&T would work. I'm sure they are salivating over both. Who wouldn't take Finley or Horry over Noncioni!
