While I'm sure the haters will take extreme offense to my looking for Kori and Mouse here...

We do have a phone message into Kori and we can't locate Mouse's phone number.

We're talking on the show today about the Message Board hoax involving the Austin guy and the OU football players (story below if you haven't seen it).

Since Kori runs the best sports message board in town and since Mouse is the most prolific sports message board poster in town, we want them both on the show.

The angle is this... Sports Message Boards are often about smack (they even say smack in the AP story) and fiction.

If Mouse, who is known to be eccentric, makes up a story he thinks is funny and is smack talk on a sports message board, should he be able to be prosecuted for it? Apparently the Austin guy might be.

Also, check out this reaction from Barry Tramel at The Oklahoman, who says Message Boards are like Porn Sites...

    http://www.newsok.tv/? leID=1659857642

If anyone can get us Mouse's number, please e-mail Dawn Murphy at [email protected]

If you want to sound off on this story, call us at 210-656-ESPN (3776).

We're planning on talking about this throughout the 7pm hour, but may just start before that in the six.

    Thanks for the help!

    Chris

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The father of an Oklahoma quarterback says he plans legal action against a Nebraska football fan who posted a bogus story on an Internet message board claiming two Sooners had been arrested on cocaine distribution charges.
James W. Conradt, a Nebraska football fan living in Austin, Texas, said he did not mean to hurt Oklahoma quarterbacks Sam Bradford and Landry Jones with his Internet hoax, according to a story posted on The Oklahoman's website late Wednesday.

"I want to express my deepest apologies to the families," Conradt said Wednesday night after his story was reported as fact by at least two Texas radio stations. "That's the thing I'm regretful about. I didn't want to hurt anyone."

Landry's father, Kevin Jones, indicated Conradt's apology may not be enough.

"I'm going to prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law," Jones said. "I've got deep enough pockets to do it."

Conradt allegedly lifted a template off The Oklahoman's website, wrote and pasted a bogus story about the arrest and posted it on a message board.

"When this was brought to our attention, we took immediate action," Oklahoman publisher David Thompson said. "Through our technology and news teams, we tracked him down and told him to cease and desist. We take this very seriously and will consider legal action."

Oklahoma associate athletic director Kenny Mossman said the hoax is the latest in a disturbing trend.

"We feel it's real unfortunate how many things have germinated from an anonymous starting point that are unfounded, untrue and, as this story proves, hurtful," Mossman said. "The Internet has enabled a lot of this kind of thing to happen, and it's really disappointing."

Conradt said he was on a Nebraska message board when some OU fans began writing smack.

"I just wanted to get 'em all riled up, I guess," Conradt said.

He did an Internet search for Sooner sports and came across the www.newsok.com template. He told The Oklahoman he did not realize it was The Oklahoman's website.

"It was a bad decision," Conradt said. "When I got home, I got on my computer, one of the moderators on the Oklahoma site e-mailed me and said some Oklahoma people are upset about this. That's when I took it down."

Kevin Jones said he received a couple of frantic calls after the hoax spread across the Internet.

"I knew it was a prank thing right away," Jones said. "Anybody that knows Sam or knows Landry knows the story wasn't true to begin with. But when radio stations down in Houston and Austin report it, it's very hurtful.

"Why would somebody be so malicious about it? Don't know why someone would trample two kids like this. I was just dumbfounded. People need to learn from this."

You can't sue people over what's posted on a message board unless you screwed over copyright laws.

Dude better have real deep pockets for when he gets counter sued.

You can sue someone for defamation, no matter where the defamatory statements are made -- yes, even on the internet.

Sorry for the late reply I was in internet court with another client. The man trying to sue the young man does have a case. He can take this jerk to Internet court where he will face a an internet judge and have an internet jury decide his internet fate.

The man may lose his screen name or even worst get banned and have to create another screen name.

The truth about this is it's called a "Parody" If your going to try and shut down message boards your going to have to shut down the 5th amendment.

In fact there is a website that will take a persons name and make a fake news story about them that they are gay etc....

I will say right here and now Dawn Murphy is a man, let the law suits begin............
