Marco Belinelli.
18 points on 9 of 12 shooting in his first summer league game. Not too bad. Did the Spurs make a mistake?![]()
Marco Belinelli.
he had 9 PF in 26 min of action against summer league players, not good
Fouls are not important in summer league.
Funny how you pick and choose what's important in a summer league game.
he may end up having a better career than george hill.
but nobody is going to rue not drafting a guy who is too small to play PF, and lacks the skills to play SF. we're talking about a guy who would kill for Julian Wright's handle...
he was great in the championship game. but up until that point, Arthur got consistently outplayed (often dominated) by every other NBA prospect he went up against.
sure you knew that though, since you've watched so much of him and are an expert on his game and all.
We are talking about a lazy 6-7 wo shoes 215lb Power Forward...no shot form outside 15ft.....not a good post defender....and Oh has kidney issues already......which even if he can play makes you sluggish and saps your energy.....At best he is a poor mans Joe smith.
We're talking about an athletic 3/4 player who can score. One of the Spurs' biggest needs.
This guy is a bummmmmm and always will be. He is alot like Warwick from Mem....remember how he was sooooo great comming out of syacuse....Look what he has done in the pros.....I see this guy as a 12ppg on a bad team kinda guy and on a good team 8ppg max....Plus where would we even play him....
I agree with that. The refs are just learning too and tend to call way too many fouls on the inside.
Spurs should have picked him... not to keep, but to trade down for more value from their pick. They easily could have had Hill plus CDR.
What if no one wanted to deal with the Spurs at that point?
Hall of Famers are made in the Summer League.![]()
I watched several of the Kansas games, mainly for Rush.....but also cause I am a Longhorns fan and I wanted to see the compe ion. Other than the championship game, I was not impressed with Arthur. IMO, Sasha Kaun made more of an impact for the Jayhawks throughout all of last year than Arthur. Kaun was a much better force inside, even though he is slow and unathletic.
Arthur may last in the NBA, but I see him as nothing but a journeyman role player.....I say if he is able to stick in the league, when he leaves the NBA, he will have played for at least 8 different teams.
Except he's not big/strong enough to man the 4. And he doesn't have the handle or range to play the 3. He's a defensive mismatch who doesn't create mismatches at the other end of the floor to force the opponent to adjust.
Udoka's a better option as the small ball 4.
I notice tlong didn't mention Arthur's 3-11 shooting today.
Selective memory is selective?
1-7 today with 9 personal fouls.
Damn you, RC! You let another one get away!
Someone call 911. tlong is missing.
He could still be a fine NBA player one day. Playing lots of minutes on a D-League team like the Grizzlies should help.
If the question is "should they have drafted him to play for the team?", the answwer is No. Period. He would have made good trade bait, especially on draft night. (I still say they could have gotten Hill plus a future draft pick.) Passing on Chalmers and CDR may prove to be a mistake, even if Hill lives up to his promise. But Arthur was never a fit here.
Having seen Darrell Arthur play many times (this is Big 12 country), many of us are well aware of his skills. I'd love to see him as a Spur some day.
