You have a point so I'll reform my previous statement. We are one or two pieces away from, when healthy, being able to beat any other team in a seven game series.
It is splitting hairs...
If he feels we are only one or two role players away from winning it all, that's not a big difference from saying we have as good as a shot as any team to win it all..........I mean we're talking about a couple of role players here. Role players are not a big distinction, somebody that's already on the bench could step up and fill that role this year. just getting Landry resigned could fill that void.

just because the team is the "same" doesnt mean .
you do realize that other teams in the league have changed???
Looks like you have it close. I like the Mavericks bench better for sure. The Spurs have Mangoo coming off the bench to attepmt to hide the huge weakness. I see these two teams even.
If Bynum does what he did before he got injuried the Lakers are the clear favorites. God forbid they get Artest. Other than that 2-8 is a toss up. Maybe the 8th seed Denver being the team that gets replaced next years playoffs.
Duncan not having Plantar Fasciitis for the entire series, along with not fouling dirk on a layup in game 7 - New Coach, New PG (who is old as ), Dirk's Unclutchness, JHo smoking pot all day, and the entire team being 2 years older = not loosing to the Mavs in OT Game 7 = Spurs > Mavs.
Oh and that series was the first time really that we ever had to use Small Ball regularly and we just looked damn awkward doing it the entire time and we STILL almost won. Now we do pretty well with small ball, and we have some newer younger and more athletic players to run with that kind of Lineup.
Really? I had no clue.....The two teams we are talking about have not changed all that much over the years and both teams have been very compe ive when playing each other. BUT this year is different. Give me a break. They are EVEN.
Good points. I still think they are even.
I have to say the summer is not over. I have a feeling some big trades are coming between now and 2009. Look at the thread we are in talking about this in. Brand went to the Sixers,Camby to Clippers,Hornets got a bit stronger, they are talking about a big Nuggets move because why eslse would they give Camby away with Iverson and Melo on the team, plus last years big moves, things can change quickly. The Celtics went from last to first.
I would agree, IF Bynum comes back the way he was, we are the favorites, a big if though.
The Nuggets better have something planned or they just threw the only basket protection they had out the window.
i think they are just clearing space, thats it, they have nothing planned. they need to blow up that team anyways.
The way he was for a couple of months? If a couple of months defined a career, the HOF would need to move to a bigger city.
No team should want Tmac. He may never get out of the first round. Probably why he wants to go to Detroit. I feel bad for the guy...
I would pull this trade for Billups and Hamilton but not Billups and Tayshaun Prince. Every day and anyday including Christmas and Easter!
yeah, teams win or lose a series not 1 player...

Nugs have no future, you are so pathetic.
I think Tracy should stick it out in HOU one more year. Give it one last push with the Rockets and see if they can finally get out of the 1st round. They play great defense and are just starting to click offensively. If they can be healthy for the playoffs they should make some noise.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say Dirk = Duncan in the present day, with dirk possibly being slightly better. Duncan obviously has the better record and more awards though. But watching duncan play in this years WCF was painful at times. I can't count how many times he'd miss a shot from 2 ft away from the basket, it was sad really, age really has caught up with him, he looks slow.
Dirk on the other hand was the only player that played well in the NO series. Though he did get clowned by GS the year before.
the bottom-line is that if the spurs and mavs met in another 7 game series, it would be a huge toss-up![]()
Yeah, he only averaged 22.4 pts and 17.4 rebs a game in the WCFs
Dirk does not = Duncan. Dirk can't and isn't willing to do the dirty work that Duncan does.
Duncan>Dirk
And if they did meet up again I think spurs would win in 5 or 6.Although the Mavs still have the same core(except kidd),this is not the same team mentally. That GS series just killed everything.
I think the not winnin is partly a matter of his lack of leadership
there is no proof that the GS series did anything but show dallas that they cant over-look any oppenent
We'd finally know what happens when an unmovable object meets an unstoppable force.
Do you really think Dallas just "over looked a opponent".
Do you think we're a bunch of dumbasses or what.
Dallas beat the out of everybody that season.......except GS, actually GS kicked the crap out of them during the reg. season as well. If there was a team to NOT to "overlook" it was GS. Teams that lose in the playoffs by "overlooking teams" are football teams, where it's a one and done thing. When you lose in a best of 7 series.......you don't lose, becuase you "overlooked a opponent....you lose, because you flat out got your ass whipped. Dallas did not "over look" the GS warriors through 6 damn games where they were getting the kicked out of them
