Report: Tracy McGrady interested in Pistons
The Pistons say they're not interested in trading for Tracy McGrady. But McGrady told ESPN he would be interested in joining the Pistons.
ESPN's Stephen A. Smith reported on ESPN late Tuesday night that he spoke with McGrady and that McGrady wouldn't mind a trade to Detroit.
Said Smith: "It's certainly not a done deal by any stretch of the imagination. It's not as if Houston and Detroit has even talked yet. But is Detroit interested? Definitely.
"Is Tracy McGrady interested? Yes he is. I spoke to Tracy McGrady earlier. His basic thing is he's very happy in Houston but he wants to win. So whatever is a winning situation for him is something he is more than willing to entertain."
Smith said McGrady "has all the faith in the world" in Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars, but "if nothing happens he's not going to sneeze at remaining in Houston with Yao Ming either."
A team source told the Free Press this week that the Pistons are not “remotely” close to a deal for Houston Rockets superstar Tracy McGrady.
Metronews.ca, which is based in Toronto, said in an Internet report — but cited no sources — that the Pistons are "making a big push for McGrady."
The Pistons source downplayed the report, saying the Rockets are just one of many teams to whom the club has spoken about potential trades.
McGrady, a 6-foot-8 forward with 11 seasons under his belt, spent his first three seasons in Toronto. He averaged 21.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists last season for Houston.

at least after this trade, the Pistons will stop losing in the ECF......they'll lose in the 1st round instead.
I can smell the second round with Rasheed spacing out for Yao and Chauncey dishing to a wide open Mango Tree
Houston needs another combo guard. They have Alston, Francis, Head, BoJax, and Barry. That's not enough.
laughing from a mavericks fan is quite comical in itself.
i hope mavericks make it in this year.
Mcgrady finally coming to his senses and looking for a way out of Houston.
SAS is dying for attention. i wonder if he got this off of realgm or hoopshype or maybe he knows an insider like sam smith.![]()
Its okay, we both know that the rockets and the mavs arn't going to win this year so he can come have a seat on the bench and join us mavs/suns fans in our yearly fishing expedition
He is trying to save his ass by cooking up .
What would happen if Tracy McGrady and Robert Horry played on the same team? Would there be a rent in the space-time continuum?
That would be a horrible trade for Houston. We are only 1 or 2 roleplayers away from winning it all, and Morey seems to be working on that. This will also be year two in Adelmans' system which is only going to make our offense run even more efficiently. Needless to say or defense is incredible. With a little health, and an improved bench, I don't see anyone we can't beat.
If we stay healthy,yes.
Mavericks have same team that made the 2006 championship, won 67 games in 2007 with two exceptions,KIDD instead of HARRIS for 2009. The virus that is known as Avery is gone.Dirk is a top 5 player in the league. They will make the playoffs.
I heard other people say they won't make playoffs and just think to myself what in the are they thinking. Its the top 8 teams out of 15. Mavs can beat Seattle,Minnesota,Sacremento,Golden State,LA Clippers,Memphis and Denver. Easliy. Thats means they are in the playoffs. As of right now, I think they will finish 4-5.
Is the window closed for a championship with this team is the 2009 question for the Mavericks. I say it is closed.
Lakers
Rockets
Spurs
Jazz
Suns
Hornets
so thats 2 spots open for a couple of good teams. Warriors,Nuggets,Blazers,Mavericks
its not going to be a cake walk no matter whos coaching the mavs.
lol u think the suns are better than the mavs?
hush mouth on that until denver wins a championship![]()
yea i do.
im not listing in order but yes they are ahead.
You think the Rockets,Spurs and Jazz are better too. I put them all in the same category as of today.
The Rockets.....What has Yao done in this league. We know what McGrady has done. Its not like they are new to the league.
Spurs are on the decline and did nothing so far to regain some ground this off season.
The Jazz are two teams, a home team and one on the Road. Until that changes I don't know if they are that good.
The Hornets could be a one hit wonder. Time will tell.
Apparently according to SAS, McGrady was singing:
"If I can't have you, I don't want nobody baby. If I can't have you, then maybe Yao."
Even if the spurs are on decline, having the big 3/4 alone puts them way ahead of the Mavs / Jazz / Suns
