Olympics vs. professional sports is a matter of opinion and perspective. Frankly I find it difficult to almost inconceivable that a person of one country wants another country to beat their own team. I can understand if your team isn't very good and can't really be in contention for a medal to want to root for another team. But in this case when you are one of the favorites - USA in BB - if not a very heavy one then why? I view the Olmpics as USA vs. the World and want our team to win every gold medal available. I know that isn't realistic but I have that feeling towards my team. But I'm not going to lose sleep if the USA doesn't win, either.
I went through Munich '72 with the terrorist attacks on the Israelis as well as the outright theft of the men's BB gold by certain Olympic officials on behalf of the Soviet Union or more to the point - against the USA team and it's dominace of the sport. SO there's more to life than sports -of any kind and level.

it is the best team of healthy/willing USA players. so it is the best that could be assembled.
