Well, so much for fighting for his job.

Point guard Marcus WilliamsMarcus Williams , who recently vowed to fight for his minutes after the NetsNew Jersey Nets acquired Keyon Dooling, is headed to Golden State for a future first round pick. The trade will be announced later today.

The pick is lottery protected for 2011 – so the Nets get it if the Warriors are in the playoffs. If it goes to 2012, the pick is protected 1-to-11. It’s protected 1-to-10 for 2013. If it is not conveyed by 2013, the Nets s\get second rounders in 2013 and 2015.

Nets really don't want any additional salaries for that 2010 summer when they go after LeBron.

This is interesting because it comes a day after Marcus Williams (on the Nets summer league team) tore up the Warriors summer league team.

...The only games I went to on Day 3 of the Rocky Mountain Revue were the first two games, Spurs/Mavs and Nets/Warriors...

Marcus Williams: I was very impressed with Marcus Williams in this game. He's another guy who seems like he could play the 1 or the 2 at the NBA level, though he might be too small to play the 2. He's got a strong offensive repertoire, including the ability to finish at the basket and shoot the 3-ball. His mid-range jumper isn't as good as he thinks it is, and it's something he needs to work on a little bit more to complete his game. He's also a good passer and improviser. If he can stay out of trouble and someone will give him a chance (it looks like he may be out the door in New Jersey), he should be able to stick in this league for quite a while.

Final box says he scored 14 points on 6 of 16 shooting, with 6 rebounds and 5 assists, but in-person it felt like he played even better than that.

I would agree but the Nets just signed Najera to a four-year deal.

Najera's contract has a decreasing salary each year, and is also small enough to move.

Plus, technically, his contract, Devin Harris' contract, and VC's contract are the only ones on the books for 2010-2011. Though they'll probably keep a number of the other players like Jianlian and Lopez.

The trade sent Marcus Williams to the Warriors for a "future" first round pick, not Golden State's first round pick next year. And, if you read the conditions of the first round pick to be conveyed, it's lottery protected in 2011, top 11 protected in 2012, and top 10 protected in 2013. The Nets won't be getting Golden State's first round pick until 2011 at the earliest.
