This was the summer of the perfect storm.
Players who overvalue themselves
97 percent of the league with limited spending money
Tons of players in the league
Oversea teams finally willing to break out the money
Another two possible signing from European~
What a crazy summer~

Deng,damn.
Don't forget that these Euro teams could add ZERO extra evenue streams, and their offers are still worth 50% more than they were 5 years ago because of the value of the dollar.
How is it overvalueing yourself when you get paid that amount?
The decline of the dollar is the major factor in all of this. It makes Euro teams much more competative because they are able to pay players "more" without even changing a damn thing.
Because they're not worth it.
Players who link they're worth more what an NBA can or wants to play a player are the ones bouncing overseas.
Even if it is, it's still going to drive up the free agent prices here.
The salary cap has a lot to do with it too. If I think I can get 10 million in Europe and the NBA teams are only offering me around 4 and I take the 10, that is not overvalueing. That's being smart.
Yes, life after basketball. Give me the money.
Plus they don't take that much tax..
Not to mention thier stats will probably be much better![]()
Man this is not good for the NBA. But at least the economy is "fundamentally strong" according to Bush and co.
will Williams kill a guy or wreck a motorcycle in Israel?
You Texans only have yourself to blame. You produced this imbecile of a president Bush, and voted him into office........TWICE.
Rumors is Dynamo Moscow and Khimki have offer Andris Biedrins 4 years $40 million. CSKA have offer him 5 years $55 million.
Olympiacos have offer Ben Gordon 3 years $56-60 millions. Childress they says "official" was $56 millions.
Panathinaikos is offers Luol Deng 3 years $72 millions.
No they will be worse maybe even. Stats is much lower in Europe.
First off, that's a crazy amount for Luol Deng. I can't believe that is the amount of the offer...
Secondly,@ Chicago if something goes through and they lose him for nothing. If they would've been willing to give him up at this time last year, they might have been able to parlay it into Kobe Bryant. Fast forward one year and there's rumors they could lose him for nothing.
They have offer him supposedly 3 years €24 million net contract.
This euro is like 1.6 dollars and these contracts is AFTER TAX. Sports papers is say this is like $72 millions US dollars gross contract in NBA. You can laugh as much as like but this is facts.
Is said he was offer €22 million contract for 3 years and he TURN IT DOWN and ask for more. Next offer is €24 million euros. He has not make decision on this one yet.
Childress get 20 million euros net for 3 years, so PAO offer to Deng is 4 million euros more than biggest contract ever in Europe which is what Childress get.
Jason Williams going to Europe is quite believable. I don't think NBA teams are ready to throw a lot of money to him.
Deng ? We will see but you should keep in mind that Greek reports are highly unreliable. Most of these rumors are created to sell newspapers and are as reliable as Hoopsworld's ones.
And now also Delonte West and Sasha Vujacic have strong offers from Europe. The West one is official (from Dynamo Moscow), Vujacic is followed by a couple of Euro teams...that's so strange: this year already Garbajosa, Delfino, Navarro, Childress, Nachbar, Brezec went to Europe. Jason Williams, Krstic, Landry, West, Biedrins, Vujacic, Deng are thinking about the jump. Splitter and Pekovic, even if they WANTED to play in NBA, are staying. This is a landslide: all these guys are good rotation players; without ALL of them, NBA will be a little poorer (don't forget about Papaloukas, Spanoulis, Jasikevicius, all guys who could play in NBA, but take more money staying in Europe). If THIS is the trend, soon NBA sixth and seventh men will be weaker every year more: this means a weaker league, weaker teams. At this point, NBA HAS to do something: even if NOW there are only about 12-15 teams who can take these players, their number will grow. And don't forget that EVERY team can take 12 players: this could mean, one day, at least 5-6 NBA-like players that instead stay in Europe...after all, it's a HUGE number, I think. Very soon you'll have to count also Italian teams in the mix: Brezec contract is 900.000 Euros net x year. After taxes, it's something near to 2,5-3 million dollars...(I'm not sure: maybe there's someone who can "translate" better than me these numbers...). Don't forget that Gallinari wanted to go to NBA, but he had huge offer from bigger teams in Europe, better than in the NBA...
The NBA has only lost Childress as quality player. It's far from being a disaster for them so far.
Jason Williams? White Chocolate? He's going over? Now I've seen it all lol.
The NBA cannot stop it. It's going to be this way for a good long time. Talent usually chases the money. Not the glory of the NBA le. Besides what are the odds of winning the NBA le? 1 out of 30?
As long as the US dollar is weak against the Euro this will be to the Euroleagues benefits. Not to mention that David Stern and the players union have screwed themselves by implementing the LLE/MLE and Salary caps over there.
What's the answer? Probably pick a team over there and start following them lol.
