I don't know about you guys but I'll probably enjoy seeing the USA dominate everyone by 40pts just as much as I would seeing the USA winning close games.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised at all if we don't win Gold this year. Our team just doesn't have much experience as a unit, and that has made all the difference the past few years when we've lost.

i knew someone would bring that up.

thats why i said MOST of the time. not ALL the time
So you only like to root for the underdog when it's unimportant to you, but not when it involves your Spurs. So basically patriotism and national pride aren't very important to you. Gotcha

what do you define as "Patriotism" and "National Pride"?

i wouldnt define it as rooting for basketball players who get paid millions of dollars to throw a basketball in a basket.

Those "players throwing a basketball in a basket" wear red, white, and blue uniforms representing the USA. I've never heard of so many bags not rooting for US OLYMPIANS in the OLYMPICS. See, people like you make me sick, just go ahead and move to Canada already.

Basketball is the only sport I won't be cheering for the US - mostly because I think they've made a mockery out of the game. If you don't allow role players in the game, and instead rely on people who are typically 90% of their team during the regular season - you suck. It's like that year where it was the West vs. the Pistons in the All Star game. Most of Team USA hasn't played together for more than 1% of the past 4 years - whereas most foreign teams have been playing together most of their lives due to the structure of basketball in their nation.

These guys aren't the Dream Team - yet they want to guarantee us a win? Going up against Argentina, Spain, Greece and Germany? Who does LJ think he is? He's no in MJ or Bird ... none of those players are. Until these guys get a dose of reality, I won't cheer for them.

So I guess I should have stopped rooting for the Suns because Mike D'Antoni didn't play his bench? Don't root for your home country because the NBA is superstar heavy? Makes a lot of sense. The Cubs made a mockery of baseball when they hired Dusty Baker as manager and tried to buy as much talent as they could, but that doesn't mean you stopped rooting for them.

You're comparing national leagues against the Olympics. You don't see our runners or our other athletes saying they'll take, or promising the gold medal. Sorry man, but you're not swaying me here ... I'm a fan of the game of basketball - I'd like to see Argentina win, mostly because that team has two Spurs on it.
